Isaiah 32:15
“Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness
be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest.”
A prophecy of desolation is found in Isaiah 32. God talks about the palaces being forsaken, the inhabited city being desolate, the forts becoming a den for the wild animals, the homes of the city being dilapidated, and the people of God becoming servants to the enemy. It seems as if there is no hope for God’s people until you come to the verse above.
Like God always does, He gave His people hope that there was a way to change all of these calamities. God gives the agent of change in this verse when He says, “Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high…” You will notice what happens when this agent of change comes. The wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is turned into a forest. What was once desolate has now become inhabited. What was once dried up has now become fruitful. What was once a field has now become a forest of fruitful trees. What is this agent of change? This agent of change is not a what but a Who. This agent of change is the Holy Spirit of God being poured out on God’s people. When the Spirit of God is poured on God’s people, what once seemed to be desolate is now filled with joy and habitation. All it took to change these calamities was the pouring out of the Spirit of God.
My friend, the same agent of change that changed these calamities into blessings is the same agent that can change your situation into blessings. Christians, pastors and church leaders are all looking for that one thing that can change their situation into a source of blessings, and sadly, many of these people are looking to the wrong places for answers. The answer to changing whatever you are facing today is to let the Spirit of God pour His power upon you.
Preacher, do you feel dry and empty? Let me remind you that the agent to change your situation is the power of the Holy Spirit. It is the power of the Holy Spirit that can take a frail mind and fill it with helpful truths. It is the power of the Holy Spirit that can take a powerless ministry and turn it into an influential ministry. It is the power of the Holy Spirit that can take a struggling church and turn it into a thriving church. It is the power of the Holy Spirit that takes the tools God gives us to use and turns them into influential agents to reach the hearts of people to see their lives changed. Stop looking for your answers in books and conferences, when your answer to change is found in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Christian, does your life need something to change? Look no further than the pouring out of God’s Spirit on your life. It is God’s Spirit that can turn the failing marriage into a joyful relationship. It is the power of the Holy Spirit that can turn the dysfunctional family into a happy family. It is the power of the Holy Spirit that can turn the struggling, addicted Christian into an overcoming, victorious Christian. The agent that can turn around whatever situation you are in today is the pouring out of the Holy Spirit of God on your life.
If you need things to change in your life, the only way it will change is to get God’s power on your life. Your answer to change your situation is to get alone with God and pray until He pours His Spirit and power on your life. There is no secret as to how to change your situation, because the secret is what has worked throughout the ages, and that is getting the power of the Holy Spirit to change your circumstances.
