Turned Upside Down

Isaiah 24:1
“Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.”

There is coming a day when the LORD will turn the Earth upside down. The inhabitants had their opportunity to do right. They heard the prophets and preachers whom God sent their way.
They were given a space of grace to repent of their wickedness. Yet, they refused, even with all the opportunities the LORD gave them to turn from their wickedness. The result: “…the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down…”

There is another time in the Scriptures when the world is turned upside down. This time is found after the church of Jerusalem was scattered because of persecution. The Christians in Jerusalem, under the power of God, saw the LORD’s hand work through souls being saved, lives miraculously changed, and an enormous growth of the church. The religious leaders tried to stop what the LORD was doing through His people through persecution, but that resulted in Christians being scattered everywhere and starting churches. The rulers of the city said when they came to Thessalonica, “…These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;” The LORD used these people to turn their world upside down for righteousness.

Twice, we see that the world was turned upside down. The first time sin turned the world upside down. The sins of mankind forced God’s hand to turn the Earth upside down. The second time, righteousness turned the world upside down. Yes, both times the world was influenced for good and bad, and both times it resulted in the world being turned upside down: one time for good and the other time for bad.

Christian, sin will always turn your world upside down. Many families have seen their world turned upside down because one person chose to live a life of sin. Many people have seen their life turned upside down because the payment of sin finally came due. You can't live a life of sin and not expect your world to stay the same. Sin always turns a world upside down. Sin always takes a peaceful world and turns it upside down into a world of conflict. Many people who lived a blessed life saw their world turned upside down into heartache and sorrow because of sin.

On the other hand, you can turn your world upside down for good if you will yield yourself to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to use you to do the LORD’s work. There are so many testimonies of people who once lived a life of turmoil only to see their world turned upside down for good because they decided to serve the LORD. The individual who chooses to get God’s power on their life can see the LORD turn their world upside down for good. Righteousness always exalts. You will find the world will be turned upside down for good when an individual, family or church chooses to follow the Word of God and continually yield to the Holy Spirit.

Today, you have a choice of which way you want your world to face. You can allow sin to turn your world upside down for worse; or, you can do right and let the LORD use you to turn your world upside down for right. Don't allow sin to ruin your world and turn it upside down. Do right and yield to the Holy Spirit, and the LORD will use you to turn the world around you upside down for good. It is your choice!
