Bible Thoughts by Terry Hedderman

Sunday, 2/15/15  Do you consider yourself to be rich or poor? Pro 13:7 There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches. A hundred years from now, will you be rich or poor?                                  Luke 2:25 (spoken to Mary) (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed. Mary knew Jesus was God incarnate, and she called Him “my saviour” (meaning she was a sinner in need of salvation.) She was a normal good woman...no more. She and Joseph had a normal marriage after Jesus came, and had at least 7 other kids. She must absolute HATE that anyone would pray to her and not Him. The worship, revererence, or adoration of Mary is idolatrous!! Jesus is the only Mediator between God and man.

Monday, 2/16/15  “Meddling Alert!!” Pro 13:23 Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment. ‘Truth be told...you and I make enough money...but we waste it: poor judgment. Or, we could work, and we play. I need to rededicate myself here. You?                        Ps 119:111 Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart. Young person, if all your parents ever did for you was to try to help you develop a working, growing relationship with the Word of God (Jesus on paper), then,  1) You’re very rich, and 2) You’re foolish not to receive it and make the most out of it.

Tuesday, 2/17/15  John 18:2 And Judas...knew the place: for Jesus oftentimes resorted thither with his disciples. Do you have any “resorts”...besides in front of the TV?                        Mal 4:4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. This was written about 1100 years after Moses...God has no new revelations for His people. We’re not due to get “New Testament 2.0” or the “iBible 4.” We have all that He says we need: learn it, love it; live it; and spread it.

Wednesday, 2/18/15  Ps 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. It’s a dark world outside...did you take in some heavenly light this morning already...or just coffee and Facebook?                         2 Kings 5:3 And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! For he would recover him of his leprosy. This POW slave child had compassion on the one responsible for her parents’ probable death and her captivity. How do you respond to those who merely aggravate you? (At work/school, on the road, at home, church?  Sorry to meddle again...)

Thursday, 2/19/15  1 Kings 22:8b ...there is...Micaiah..but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.  If the cat’s fur is being rubbed the wrong way, turn the cat around. The Bible is to change us and not vice versa.                                   Gen 4:7 (God speaking to Cain after his offering was rejected) If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? And if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. Mankind thinks that we get to determine what constitutes “doing well” and we try to dictate to God under what circumstances He is to accept us back. Wrong!! The offender doesn’t set the penalty, the offended does. Does the murderer determine how long he’ll serve in prison or does society determine that? So, we don’t get to determine the way back to God. He told Cain it was through a bloody sacrifice (which God had ready at his doorway: all Cain had to do was hold out his hands and the lamb would’ve jumped up.) God’s proffered sacrifice for sins is His Son. To claim that church membership or good deeds or religious rituals (communion or baptism) can substitute for Him...well, the inmates don’t run God’s asylum: it’s Jesus and Jesus only for you...or it’s Hell for you. Your choice.

Friday, 2/20/15  Pro 17:9a He that covereth a transgression seeketh love. Do you tend to be more of a cover-er or an uncover-er?                                    Ps 59:16-17 But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of they mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble. Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defense, and the God of my mercy. God wants to hear you sing. Put a list of your favorite hymns and/or Scripture choruses on a 3x5 card and sing in the car.

Saturday, 2/21/15  Luke 16:22 ...the rich man also died and was buried; and in hell he lift up his eyes... Just a reminder that ‘most everyone you see today is one heartbeat away from Hell: your boss, classmate, the clerk at Dunkin Donuts, the guy across the gas pump...do you care? Enough to act?                               Gen 19:11 And [the angels] smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door. You’d think that suddenly losing their sight would get anyone’s attention, but these men were so consumed with their lusts that they kept searching for Lot’s door. You’d better deal with your sin before it totally consumes you!!
Thoughts from some others
Pro 28:14 Happy is the man that feareth always: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief. We’d better run scared and keep our hearts right if we want to avoid trouble.
Acts 13:50 But the Jews strirred up devout and honorable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coast. We can expect problems and persecution from the world and our peers if we win sinners and get a bigger crowd than theirs.
Ps 119:59 I thought on my ways and turned my feet unto thy testimonies. We need to think about our actions in the light of God’s word!
Ps 119:66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments. This ought to be our prayer and heart’s desire for every day and every decision of our lives!
Pro 11:13a A talebearer revealeth secrets, but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter. We don’t have to tell all we know and heard, whether it be true or not. Who made us a news reporter?
Acts 16:39 And they came and besought them, and brought them out, and desired them to depart out of the city. The world’s attitude/opinion changes quickly when they are placed in an adversarial/unpopular position before the public and powers that be.
Pro 20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. Too bad our nation and its leaders can’t read and understand this. We have politicians and respected leaders who’ve made their fortunes off of this satanic stuff!
