The Victory Way

Genesis 24:27
“And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master’s brethren.”

There is a reason why the servant of Abraham was successful in his journey to find a wife for Isaac.

The command from Abraham was not an easy command to follow, but the servant obeyed. His obedience to his master’s command seemed fruitless, but he found the way that led to victory. The way that led this servant to victory was the LORD’s way. The servant said in his prayer, “I being in the way, the LORD led me…”

Christian, this is the answer to finding victory in your life. Had the servant gotten out of the way, he wouldn’t have had the victory, and especially as quickly as he found it. The secret to obtaining victory in the Christian life is found in the five ways that this servant walked.

First, you will find victory in the overcoming way. In verse 5, the servant asked Abraham what to do if the woman was not willing to follow him. You will never find victory by giving excuses as to why it can’t be done. Excuses must never be the crutch you lean on if you want to experience victory. Nobody ever said that victory would come easy. Victory is only found by those who find a way to overcome obstacles.

Second, you will find victory in the faith way. In verse 7, Abraham reminded his servant that God brought him to where he was by faith. If you want to find victory in your life, you are going to have to live a life of faith. Faith is still the victory for those who are willing to live their life trusting the providence of the LORD. Don’t settle for anything less than the life of faith.

Third, you will find victory in the old way. In verse 7, this servant was not to bring Isaac back to where Abraham came out of, but he was to bring the wife to where Isaac lived. My friend, the old ways are the old paths that the saints of God have trodden for centuries. These old ways are the Bible way which has never led anyone astray. Stop looking for a new way to serve the LORD and walk in the old way.

Fourth, you will find victory in the obedience way. In verse 10, the servant obeyed and started the journey of faith. You will never find victory sitting in the pews waiting for God to show you His way. His way is always found in the obedience way. Victory has never been found in the way of disobedience. Disobeying the God’s command to go soul winning, love others, stand for truth, and walk with the LORD will only lead to defeat. If you want to see victory in your life, you are going to have to walk in the obedience way to find God’s will for your life.

Fifth, you will find victory in the prayer way. In verse 12, the servant prayed to the LORD for help as he walked in the way of faith. You will never find victory without prayer. You can step out by faith and obey, but you will fail without adding prayer to your way. Prayer is the final ingredient that leads to victory. Prayer leads to victory because you are employing the power of God in the ways you are to walk.

This servant found victory because he was “in the way” that the “LORD led” him to walk. If you want to live the life of victory, you are going to have to walk in these five ways that lead to the victory way.
