Bible Thoughts by Terry Hedderman

Tuesday, 11/15/16,  Eph 1:2, Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. This is what you got from Heaven this morningvia Special Delivery...pass it on.
1 Sam 1:28, Therefore also I have lent him to the Lord; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the Lord. And he worshipped the Lord there. Many of us gave our kids to the Lord when they were born. Have you since reclaimed them? And while we’re on the subject, have you taken back your own life?

Wednesday, 11/16/16  Pro 9:5-6, Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled. Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.Come”: choose wisdom in your heart. “Eat, drink”: incorporate wisdom.  “Forsake”: drop the bad (no double mindedness). “Go”: Live what you learn.                                 2 Kings 19:30, And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward. We need to do both: sink roots into private, unseen devotions (Bible, prayer, praise, worship, confession, etc.) and lift ourselves to the sun/Son so as to bring forth fruit: souls won, hearts encouraged, good deeds done, money given, SS classes taught, etc.) Are you doing both? Neither? To picture you as a plant or a tree: would you be full and green? Short and sickly? A stump with a great root system but no branches? Large growth above ground, but one that will topple in a strong wind?

Thursday, 11/17/16  Pro 15:4a, A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perversness therein is a breach in the spirit. Does your tongue promote and grow life? Good fruit? Or is it a poisonous chemical that harms all that it touches? (That includes YOUR own spirit.)                          Ps 123:2, Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God until he have mercy upon us. Notice the word, UNTIL. If God’s not answering your prayers and not pointing out some obstacle on your part for which you need to care, then just keep on praying.

Friday, 11/18/16  Pro 15:6, In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble. Treasure is not the same as revenue. On which do you focus more of your energy?                                    Though none of us like to have our faults pointed out, what is your feeling toward the one who does so?  Pro 15:12, A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.

Saturday, 11/19/16  “I just don’t feel that God loves me...” Pro 15:9, The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the Lord: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness. Would it be more accurate to claim that you pursue righteousness or wickedness?? A pointed question that only you can answer.                           David is in DEEP trouble. Ps 57:1d, 3-4, 6, ...these calamities...the reproach of him that would swallow me up...my soul is among lions...among them that are set on fire...whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword...have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down...digged a pit before me. In the midst of his troubles, David vows to praise God in v7; to awaken to walk with God in v8; to publicly praise and sing in v9. These are WAY better reactions than what we generally do...

Sunday, 11/20/16  Pro 3:5-6, Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. He didn’t say that His direction would be fun or easy or understandable.                              2 Kings 21:1-2a, Manasseh was 12 years old when he began to reign, and reigned 55 years in Jerusalem. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord...  55 years of evil leadership!! Whatever your political views, thank God for our American system.

Monday, 11/21/16  Ps 127:1a, Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it. A good verse for young couples/parents, but also a good verse for those who’re trying to rebuild a damaged home.                               Pro 17:9, He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends. Are you loving enough to let a transgression from your spouse against you go?

Bible thoughts from some others:
- Acts 13:47, For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth. PTL in his providence He made eternal salvation available to the Gentiles, and why I am saved today!!

- Ps 34:7, The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. I wonder how many times we’ve been protected and delivered from danger by the angel of the Lord.

- Pro 18:27, He that hath knowledge spareth his words. Those that have wisdom and godly knowledge do not speak idle words or gossip.

- Pro 18:19a, A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle. Reconciliation with a brother may be difficult, but is not impossible. Whatever it takes on my part is worth the effort, adn is the godly thing to do.

- Ps 35:27, Let them shout for joy and be glad, that favor my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. We have more to shout about and praise God for than the world knows about.

- Ps 36:7, How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. The mercy, or lovingkindness, of our God is an attribute that is so precious to us that it allows us to put our faith and confidence in Him.

- Ps 37:3, Trust in the Lord, and do good: so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. A sure way to God’s provisions and blessings.
