Bible Thoughts by Terry Hedderman

Sunday, 11/3/13  Neh 2:4-5 Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed tot he God of heaven. And I said unto the king... Nehemiah prayed an on-the-spot prayer. We should have a prayer time, but immediate prayers are fine. Pray for police/fire/ambulance vehicles when you see them.              Acts 24:15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust. All people fall into one of those 2 categories: those that God considers just & those He considers unjust. God is a black and white kind of God; 100% or 0%. Can you say for sure that your record in Heaven is as spotless in God’s sight as Jesus’? That’s the entrance ticket to Heaven. The Bible way of salvation grants that 100% record in God’s eyes. Message me for details.

Monday, 11/4/13  Gen 14:14 And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive... (Lot was his nephew.) Adults, realize that your Christian subordinates are, yes, your children or employees or members of your team, but they also are your brethren.              Ps 49:7-9 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: (for the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth forever:) that he should still live for ever, and not see corruption. Most people in America believe in working their way to Heaven, but to look at that logically makes it a ludicrous thought. How could we in 70 years impress the One Who is holy enough to merit an eternity in Heaven where streets are made of gold and where infinite purity dwells? To buy 5 aircraft carriers for a penny would be a lesser presumption. The One Who paid an eternal price bought salvation and will give it but not sell it.  Do you know 100% for sure that you are going to Heaven? Message me if you don’t.

Tuesday, 11/5/13  Ps 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. This is an absolute statement, not a conditional one. It doesn’t say:  ....if we pray, or ...if we’ve been obedient. By faith, trust His presence. By faith, live the way you would if you saw Him beside you.        ”Daddy, may I go on the long trip with you?”  “If you pay the price...which is a big hug.”  We’ve all done this as parents with our kids, or had it done to us by our parents: taken something unrelated to the actual cost and counted the accounts balanced. Gen 15:6 And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness. God takes our faith and credits us as having paid perfect righteousness.  God takes our faith in the finished work of Calvary and credits us as having paid perfect righteousness to gain entrance to Heaven.  Are you perfectly righteous in God’s eyes?

Wednesday, 11/6/13  Pro 31:8 Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. If you see a need, then you are commanded to fill it. Here, the person couldn’t speak so “you” was told to do it for them. Don’t pass it off onto another person. See it -- solve it.             Gen 16:2 And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the Lord hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid... God does expect us to work through and solve our own problems. The problem here though is that there is no record of Sarai asking advice from God or her husband nor is there any mention of prayer re: her barrenness.  Plus, her solution was sinful.

Thursday, 11/7/13  Pro 31:3b Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings. If you are on your way to being/becoming what you should be, don’t dabble with that which has been shown to destroy those in your shoes.               Gen 19:11 And they smote the men that were at the door with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door. Though suddenly stricken with total blindness, these perverts were still looking for the door to get to Lot and the 2 strangers. Be forewarned: sin will take you a lot farther than you ever thought possible.

Friday, 11/8/13  Gen 18:14 Is there any thing too hard for the Lord? Is your situation any more unlikely than a 90 year old woman giving birth? Pray, do right, and trust God.              Matt 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  Evidentally, there are at least some things that we can’t learn about God until we work for Him. Also, it seems there is a special "soul rest" for those co-laborers. Go DO something for God: go soul winning, work a bus route, volunteer, pass out tracts, help your SS teacher.

Saturday, 11/9/13  Matt 12:20 A bruised reed shall he not break, and a smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory. If we’re like Christ, we will strengthen and sustain those beat down by sin or by mistakes, even of their own doing.           Matt 14:25-26 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. The thing that you see that is terrible and scary might actually be Jesus arriving in a totally unexpected manner.

Thoughts from some others:
When I woke up this morning, I asked myself: “What are some of the secrets of success in life?” I found the answers right in front of me:  The fan said, “Stay cool and calm always.”  The roof said, “Aim high!”  The window said, “See the world, the big picture!”  The clock said, “Every second counts; don’t waste time or procrastinate.”  The mirror said, “Always control the person you sin in the reflection, and think hard before you act.”  The door said, “Push hard! Working hard always pays in the end.”  The carpet said, “Kneel down and pray!!”  And God said, “I’ve got your back.”
Gen 34:1 And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.  Too bad Mom & Dad didn’t warn her about her choice of friends. Girls usually have brothers, and they aren’t blind. That cost the girl and a lot of others dearly.
Ps 108:1a O God, my heart is fixed. Oh for a generation of hard nosed, leather lunged, fundamental, Spirit filled preachers who refuse to budge on the Bible truths to call our nation back to God. That’s all that it would take to get God’s blessings back on America.
Rom 1:24, 26, 28 God gave them up (or over) is used. It is a horrible thing when God gives up on people. America had better wake up.
Ps 107:6, 13, 19, & 28 all say almost exactly the same words: Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.  Why do God’s people wait until insurmountable distresses and tragedies come before we get serious in our prayer lives and pursuit of God?
Rom 2:1 Therefore, thou art inexcusable,O man, whosoever tho art that judgest. We must be very careful not to stand in the place of judgment of another; that’s a place that only belongs to God. He alone is worthy and just.
Rom 2:29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly, and circumcision is of the heart, in the spirit, or in the letter: whose praise is not of men, but of God. Eternal salvation is not inherited, earned, or merited, but is a gift by a miracle of the new birth through faith in Christ. Thank God for His mercy and grace.
Gen 37:3a Now Isaac loved Joseph more than all his children. Regardless of the reason, it is not right to love one child more than another, or to ever show partiality one over another. It leaves lasting effect on that child and the rest of the family for life.
Rom 7:24 O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?  One day we will no longer have to battle this body of death. Hang on just a little longer.
