Bible Thoughts by Terry Hedderman

Sunday, 11/10/13  Matt 17:8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. Idea: daily, go out and notice people and things on your level, then literally, purposefully, slowly lift up your eyes and look toward Heaven and remind yourself whose you are.
Ps 16:8-9 I have set the Lord always before me: because he is on my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. Putting Christ in His proper place and putting our eyes on Him is the key to steadiness in the storm, gladness, joy, and hope.  Know Jesus: know peace. No Jesus: no peace.

Monday, 11/11/13  Matt 19:4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female. Jesus believed that Genesis relates literal history. Do you?            Gen 35:2 Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments. Dads, lead your household to take whatever their next step of growth may be.

Tuesday, 11/12/13  Gen 38:15 When Judah saw her, he thought her to be an harlot; because she had covered her face. Do you act different than you are? There are two ways to be a hypocrite: acting good when you’re actually wicked, and acting wicked when you’re actually good. Are you a reverse hypocrite?             Ps 58:1 Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? Do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men? Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.  I can’t hear your words cuz your actions are screaming too loudly. Don’t tell me how clean your actions are if your heart is filthy dirty. Is there a consistency between your inner heart and your outer physical actions?

Wednesday, 11/13/13  John 6:63b ..the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. Is your life dead? Your future? Worthless? Is your spirit dead? No motivation, no drive? Consume some Bible. Is your marriage dead? The KJB is God’s CPR device/defibrillator.            Matt 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. This is still pertinent advice for today. The Bible is our final authority, and is to be our guide. Beware of logic, theology, or feelings that contradict the Bible. Also, look down the road: something may seem right initially, but it’s end is devilish.

Thursday, 11/14/13  Gen 49:4 Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel. What are the characteristics of water? It conforms to its surroundings; yields to any pressure; moves readily; heats and cools quickly; dissolves almost anything (takes some from whatever it contacts).            Gen 50:20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. You and I cannot determine whether any single even is good or bad for us...’guess we oughta just trust God.

Friday, 11/15/13  Matt 26:50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Jesus was Judas’ friend:  not because of what Judas was, but because of what Jesus was. I’m guessing that if He didn’t give up on Judas, He’ll not abandon you either.              John 8:21 The said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come. Come when you feel the call of God on your soul because, later on, you may want Him, and He’ll have passed on. Salvation occurs when you answer His call, not when you initiate the action.  He is NOT always available...many Scriptures attest to that.

Saturday, 11/16/13  Ps 68:20 He that is our God is the God of salvation. Everything He does is to save mankind: from the penalty of sin; from the entrapments, complications, confusion, and dominance of sin; from the presence of sin.                  Ps 27:4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple. If being closer to God and the things of God were our focus and passion, that would solve a lot of things.

Thoughts from some others:
Mark 7:10 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and Whoso curseth father or mother, let him dies the death. There is more, and if you have time read the next few verses. If you still have a mother or a father, when is the last time that you honored them? When was the last time we mowed their grass, fixed something for them, paid for their meal, held a door for them? Just because we’ve done it one time doesn’t mean we’ve fulfilled this commandment.. There is more, and if you have time read the next few verses. Pro 9:17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.  We need to read the next verse and know that sin never turns out right or like we fantasized it would.  It will cost more than we planned to pay.
Gen 38:23 And Judah said, Let her take it to her, lest we be ashamed.  It’s OK for Judah to be immoral and sin, just don’t be found out. I wonder if we’re not a lot like Judah today. How about God’s thoughts in the matter?
You don’t have to make your life count for God. Belonging to God makes your life count.
John 20:21 Then said Jesus unto them...as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. We have the same authority to spread the Gospel as Jesus.
2 Thess 3:16 Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means.  The Lord of peace... :)
Rom 4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.  Not 1 sin on our record in Heaven!!! I think I’m about to have a spell!! Now, I must make sure that Jesus’ record is not marked more than is necessary.
