Bible Thoughts by Terry Hedderman

- Tuesday, 6/2/20  Psalm 23:4, Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me... We cannot control our circumstances, but we can control our thoughts and our will. Focus on the problems or the Person of Christ...it’s on you.

2 Timothy 2:1, Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. Be strong in grace received: it’s greater than your mistakes, choices, rebellion. Access it and get clean.  Be strong in grace given: they need to know their Father and their brothers and sisters don’t hate them for what they’ve done. We’re often better at one than the other...Let’s become ambidextrous grace handlers!

- Wednesday, 6/3/20  Before God hears us, He insists we hear Him. Proverbs 28:9, He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination. It’s an irrefutable law of life, and He deserves that and, His agenda is more important than ours. So, are you listening?                                 Matthew 11:3, And [John] said unto [Jesus], Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? We must allow people to wax and wane in their status. John knew who Jesus was: he was just going through a rough time and needed some extra assurance. Do you bite people’s heads off for asking what “they ALREADY know!!!”?

- Thursday, 6/4/20  The first step to getting someone the Gospel and getting them saved may not be giving the Gospel. John 4:45, Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast. We may have to win their hearts through “non-spiritual” means/activities first.                                   Matthew 11:23, And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. God doesn’t treat everyone alike...don’t expect your boss to do so either.

- Friday, 6/5/20  “Lord, please bless me, or so-n-so.”  What does that mean? Psalm 29:11, “...the Lord will bless his people with peace. Maybe God’s intervention in our lives is simply allowing us to keep going without going crazy. God is more involved than we give Him credit for.                           Have you ever said/thought something like, “I deserve this; I deserve some happiness”? No, that is a totally unspiritual sentiment and focus. Job 11:6, Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth. You and I deserve Hell...nothing better. Now, it’s being a good Christian to wish that for another, but it’s dishonest to think it of ourselves.

- Saturday, 6/6/20  Matthew 15:19, For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies... This is your heart; this is my heart. So, we have nothing to be proud about; we have plenty to work on; I need your patience and grace and you need mine.                                   Jeremiah 44:17-18,23, But we will certainly...burn incense unto the queen of heaven,...for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil. But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven...we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine. Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the Lord, and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day. Be careful about “KNOWING” cause and effect in your life or another’s. Your conclusions may be wrong. Start and end with the Bible and what God says.

- Sunday, 6/7/20  Matthew 16:24, Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. Our cross is thrust upon us by another; it is unjust; it is unfair; by no means is it a pleasant thing; and it is the will of God. Will you take it?                                Revelation 2:1, These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand... God holds His men in His hands. Therefore, they are very close to Him, so if they do wrongly, He is in the best position to deal with them. In His hands, He protects them. Since they are in His hands, to attack them, we must attack His hands. Quit attacking God’s preachers: He’s got them. Don’t you have enough to do cleaning up your act? I know I do.

- Monday, 6/8/20  Titus 2:9-10, Exhort servants to be...shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. Adorn (dress up, decorate) by fidelity. Are you enticing your boss to Christ by the “outfit and perfume” that you wear at work?                                    Matthew 20:8, So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first. Those that were called at the 11th hour had the same status as that called at the first: they were laborers. Veteran servants of the Lord, we’re not one whit better, nor exalted than the newest convert. Yes, we may have some knowledge or wisdom, but we’re still servants.  Dear one who just got saved: you’re the same as any one of us. We are your brother, fellowservant. Let us know if we can serve you so you can serve Him better.
