Bible Thoughts by Terry Hedderman

Tuesday, 9/27/16  Do you have eternal life or simply everlasting life?  John 17:3, And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. Knowing a PERSON involves spending time and opening your ears and your heart.                  God can play rough... Hos 5:15, I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early. But do you really want that?

Wednesday, 9/28/16  Do you want right or just to be right? Pro 18:17, He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbor cometh and searcheth him.               Josh 1:5b, 7, ...I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee...Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all my law...turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. You just worry about doing your part; rest assured that God’ll do His.

Thursday, 9/29/16  Ps 11:3, If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?  Paraphrase:  “If YOUR foundations (relationship with God, marriage, family, self-respect, reputation) be destroyed...” Protect your situation or you’ll be worthless to help others.          Ps 73:25, Whom have I in heaven but thee? And there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. Whom do you have in times of trouble? Some high and holy, far-off, stern, grouchy Diety? Or an Abba-Father-Daddy, and “Big Brother,” Friend Jesus? We’re related to God by the new birth, but the sweetness and depth of the relationship comes through honest interaction, (which translates into TIME.)

Friday, 9/30/16  Ps 11:7, For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright. Yes, you’re saved, but do you LIVE righteously? Does God love your life? Or, do you give Satan many opportunities to truthfully accuse you and mock God for your lifestyle and embarrass the Father?         In Psalm 13:1-4, I count at least 11 negatives, but David mentions salvation in v5, and, in v6, his situation is “bountiful.” If all else is wrong and you’ve got salvation...YOU WIN!!! Are you truly, scripturally saved? Could you give me a clear testimony of when and where you were and what happened? If not, contact me, and let’s talk. If that’s all good, how often do you DWELL on that salvation?

Saturday, 10/1/16  Ps 94:13, That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked. We all want this, but notice what causes “THAT.” V12 causes v13: Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Lord, and teachest him out of thy law; THAT... Are you willing to submit to God’s methods?               Ps 18:2a, The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer... For Him to be your Rock (foundation) and fortress (defensive stronghold), you’ve got to remain in place: you can’t run away in fear. Stay. Don’t change your spiritual beliefs, your actions, your habits in times of troubles.

Sunday, 10/2/16  Pro 27:18, Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honored. Employee, remember that your job is to fulfill your boss’ wishes (like a waiter would.) Boss, your job is to acknowledge and reward the service of the employee. (Tip your waiter.)           Pro 12:25 Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad. How many “stoop-id” hearts can I help lift today?

Monday, 10/3/16  That God loves you unconditionally doesn’t mean that He likes your actions. Matt 16:23, But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence to me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. Get your life today in line with the Bible.             For the next 6 days, I am going to expound upon the marriage vows, to remind all of us what we did and said, and to teach the unmarried.  “If you ___ and you ____ have freely and deliberately chosen each other as partners for life, would you please join your right hands?” You indicated that this was a choice of your own volition, and you accepted your sweetheart’s choice of you.  “Will you have this woman/man to be your wedded wife/husband, to live together in holy marriage?” This was your choice to say or not to say this...there is no backing out allowed. You enlisted in “The Marital Army” for a lifetime enlistment...there is no discharge from this branch of service. And, again, the concept is togetherness: physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. Are you fulfilling all 4 areas? If not, get right with God and your spouse today for violating your sacred vows.

Bible thoughts from some others:
- Pro 28:19, He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough. There is no substitute for hard work, nor are there any shortcuts to success.

- Acts 1:7, And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. Our Lord knew it would be easier to worry about and concentrate on the indidentals rather than on the main business of winning the lost to Him.

- John 21:12, Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? Knowing it was the Lord. I wonder if we do not have the same problem, failing to recognize the Lord’s presence after obvious miracles in our lives.

- Ps 107:11, Because they rebelled against the words of God, and condemned the counsel of the most High. Look out if we don’t want the God of the universe to pour out His wrath upon us. May He send revival and deliverance to our land!

- Ps 144:4, Man is like a vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away. Our days here are brief at best: what we do for God is all that counts.

- Ps 146:19, He will fulfill the desire of them that love him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them. It pays to run scared, and to have reverential respect for our awesome God. How long will it be, and what will it take for us to wake up in America?
