Sunday,
4/19/14 Ps 109:1-20 David prays for some
fierce judgment to fall on the wicked. V16: Because
that he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man,
that he might even slay the broken in heart. David was very angry because
of the wicked attacking him, and yet, asks God to attack them. The things that we
dislike in others are usually traits we have in abundance in ourselves.
Ps 137:1 By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion. Don’t wait to lose something or someone before you realize how dear it was to you. Love your family, country, region, job, age, dwelling, pastor, church, health, etc., etc. Does God have to upset your life to awaken you to what He’s blessed you with?

Monday,
4/20/14 Some think that a believer has
to hold onto salvation. NNOOOO!!! It’s not my pitiful strength that keeps me
saved: Ps 140:7a O God the Lord, the strength of my salvation... Hallelujah!!! Once
saved, always saved. Fundamentalists
are known for preaching standards, and according to our faithfulness to
practice them, we’ve labeled ourselves or others as “righteous” or “upright.”
Let’s utilize God’s definitions: Ps
140:13 Surely the righteous shall give
thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence. Are you
thankful? Do you walk with God?
Tuesday,
4/21/14 Mark 1:7 And preached, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of
whose shoes I am not unworthy to stoop down and unloose. John said he
wasn’t worthy to even untie Jesus’ shoes, yet so often we feel totally at ease
helping or telling Him how to run our lives or to provide for us. Ps 144:2c ...who subdueth my people under me.
Leaders (parents, teachers, bosses, supervisors, bus captains): do you depend
on your position or threats of punishment or the volume of your voice to
control your followers? We’re to depend on God for that too.
Wednesday,
4/22/14 Rev 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert
cold or hot. Honest check: do you honestly believe that God sees you as a
“hot” Christian? Would He rebuke you as “cold” hearted? If neither of those is
true....uh-oh. V16 So then because thou
are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Luke 18:21 And he said, All these have I kept from my
youth up. We deride this rich young ruler’s pride, but, seemingly, he
honestly believed he’d kept those commandments. His problem was using his own
definition of “keep.” Lesson: In all areas: use God’s definitions or boundaries
or stipulations. Does God see you as a good Christian? Does He view you as a
loving spouse? Does He say you’re a diligent worker? Would He categorize you as
“quick to forgive”?
Thursday,
4/23/14 Ps 143:1 Hear my prayer, O Lord, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me,
and in thy righteousness.
Just a thought: would answering your prayers violate God’s righteousness or
cause Him to treat you as “an exception to the rules”? James 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth... No Bible = no
salvation. Be sure to use the pure words of God when talking with someone.
Friday,
4/24/14 Ps 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor
standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
Each of these 3 bad alternatives often can be more fun or exciting than
the
righteous alternative. However, we must choose what is right over what
is pleasurable. (And the bad choices only SEEM more pleasurable...in the
short
run.) Ps
2:1 Why do the heathen rage, and they
people imagine a vain thing? The vain thing that the heathen dreamt of was
being able to throw off the binding cords of God. Christian school graduate,
Bible college graduate: do you really think that God is not going to make you
answer for your corrupt, worldly lifestyle? You’re still saved...are your
drinking buddies? You’ll go to
Heaven...about each of those you’ve slept with?
You say that you’re God’s child: do you ever say it to anyone who needs
to be?
Saturday,
4/25/14 Isa 37:31 And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take
root downward, and bear fruit upward. A major key to life is to balance
intake and production. We must take in and give out in order to have long-term
viability. Are you doing all phases of Christianity? Mark 10:11-12 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry
another, committeth adultery against her. And if a woman shall put away her
husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery. Just a
reminder: God’s standards haven’t changed. What used to be sin and commonly
preached about and believed is still sin even if there is no current preaching
or belief. And we will still answer for what GOD considers to be sin.
Thoughts from some others
Heb
2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so
great salvation: which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was
confirmed unto us by them that heard him. A warning both to those who
refuse to accept it and those who fail to pass it on.
Heb
1:3 Who being in the brightness of his
glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the
word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right
hand of the Majesty on high. O what
a Saviour!! Anyone less than God Himself cannot pay for my sins and to take
away from His deity is very dangerous and eternally damning.
Pro
25:26 A righteous man falling down before
the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring. The world may
not like us, but most admire and respect us if our lives are consistent. When
we fall and fail, we let both our Saviour and those who look up to us down.
Pro
24:17 Rejoice not when thine enemy
falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth. We need to be
very careful about our attitude toward the predicament of others, especially
our enemies. Let God handle it: He is very capable and doesn’t need help.
Heb
4:15 For we have not an high priest which
cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities, but was in all points
tempted as we are, yet without sin. Thank God for a High Priest Who has
been where we are.
Pro
22:15 Foolishness is bound in the heart
of a child: but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. There is
nothing wrong with our country that a godly, disciplined Momma with a paddle
couldn’t cure before a child is 1-2 years of age. It is impossible to rear real
men without tough, godly parents.
Num
32:26-27a ...our little ones, our wives,
our flocks, and all our cattle, shall be there in the cities of Gilead: but thy
servants will pass over... I wonder
how many men have crossed over Jordan to serve God but have left their families
on the other side and lost them to the devil and the world while they were
serving?
(From a new contributor: a college student at Bro. Trieber's school): After
Adam & Eve ate the fruit they hid. God asked, “Where are you” even thou He
knew. He asked Abel where his brother was (He knew). He does the same with us
today: He is trying to let us acknowledge our sin and get right.
