Sunday, 2/2/14 You don’t deserve forgiveness...not after what you
did...NOT AT ALL. True statement. Ps 51:1a Have
mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness. We are entitled to mercy just because He so
wonderfully offers it. Now quit wallowing in “I’m so unworthy” and go get
cleaned up already. Ps
51:1b ...according unto the multitude of
thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. He’s got more mercies than
you have transgressions; and getting your eyes on the Lord and His mercy more
often will keep your eyes and heart from focusing on the things that tempt you.
No you don’t deserve it...that’s the definition of mercy. Just take it.
Monday, 2/3/14 Pro 31:10-11 Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. The
heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he will have no need of
spoil. The 1st characteristic mentioned for this lady is trust.
Men, you need to trust your wife. Ladies, are you trustworthy? (And the context
specifically refers to trusting her re: money.) Ps
119:76 Let, I pray thee, thy merciful
kindness be for my comfort, according to thy word unto thy servant. I find
it interesting that he prays for comfort. Some people feel so unworthy of
forgiveness that they refuse His merciful kindness: that’s pride.
We’re to rest in the Lord (Matt 11:28). Take His proffered forgiveness
and move on.
Tuesday, 2/4/14 Pro 31:10, 12 Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. She
will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. The 2nd
characteristic is demonstrated active good deeds. Ladies, do you do what you do
because you like it or want it, or because your husband likes it or wants it?
Is your hair like he likes it? Do you dress like he likes? Do you act like he
likes? Do you do good to him daily? 1
Cor 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath
not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things
which God hath prepared for them that love him. Though many believe this
refers to Heaven and eternity, it absolutely does not. It refers to the
treasures in the Bible as indicated in v10: But
God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all
things, yea, the deep things of God. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you the
words that He dictated to holy men of God.
Wednesday, 2/5/14 Matt 26:49 And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.
“I can’t imagine how Judas could do that!!” His lips gave 1 message and his
life gave another. How closely do your lips and life agree? Your lips confess
there’s a Hell: do you win souls. Your lips proclaim love: your life screams
contention. Phil 5 Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus,
and toward all saints. We all know that we’re to love and trust God, but
the verse commends Philemon for loving and trusting saved people in general.
How loving are you toward all other believers? How trusting are you?
Thursday, 2/6/14 Ps 55:3 What
time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. OK, you’re having a hard time:
don’t waste it: learn faith or receive chastening or deepen your walk with God
or learn not to whine or understand compassion...whatever you can get from the
bad, get it. “Lord, what are You trying to teach me?” Pro 4:3-4a For I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my
mother. He taught me also, and said unto me... Pass on life’s lessons that
you have learned.
Friday, 2/7/14 1 Cor 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
A reminder that the most secure of us is walking on a spiritual icy path: keep
your guard up; don’t be surprised when any of us falls; and help people get
back up. 1 Cor 10:8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell
in one day [23,000]. Don’t forget that God’s character has not changed, and
if such a large amount of the Old Testament talks about judgment on God’s
people, maybe it’s still relevant in 2014.
Saturday, 2/8/14 Ps 59:1 Deliver
me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.
Remember that God is able to defend you much better than you can. And if He
doesn’t, figure out what you’re to learn from the presence of the enemy. 1
Cor 10:13 There hath no temptation taken
you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you
to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a
way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. QUIT TRYING TO CONQUER
TEMPTATION!!! Don’t conquer it: flee it. Temptations are a lot easier to deal
with from a distance.
Thoughts from some others
Pro 7:9 In the twilight, in the evening, in the
black and dark night. No good ever happens at night without careful
planning and a godly moral purpose. Moral purity is on purpose and not by accident.
Ps 53:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no
God. Corrupt are they, and have done
abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good. The fool has a heart problem that must be
corrected by the Holy Spirit of God if his is to submit to God and change his
habits.
Gal 2:11
But when Peter was come to Antioch, I
withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. Thank God for the
boldness of Paul and others of hte past who stood for right. May he give us
leaders in our pulpits today who stand for truth and boldly preach it.
Pr 3:12 Whom the Lord loveth he
correcteth, even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. No disciple =
no live. If we can get by with sin, I would wonder about the love of our
Heavenly Father and how close we are to Him.
Pro 1:26, 33 I also will laugh at your calamity: I will mock when your fear
cometh...but whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet
from fear of evil. Our attitude and obedience to God’s word influences His
attitude toward us in time of need.
Acts 3:19 ...when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence fo the
Lord. What will Heaven be like?
Refreshing!!!
