Saturday, 12/28/13 John 6:15 When
Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force to make
him a king, he departed again into a mountain alone. Jesus WILL be the King
of the world and of you, but He won’t allow you or I to dictate the terms or
the timing or the extent or the limitations of His throne. John 6:28-29 Then they said unto him, What shall we do,
that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is
the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. Paraphrase: “How can we do spectacular deeds for
God?” “The key to doing anything for God
is to have simple faith today.”
Sunday, 12/29/13 Pro 27:15 A
continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.
On one hand, I can see these contentions being a source of misery and total
aggravation. But on the other side, I can see it just being background
noise: ignored. If you nag about
everything, you will become 1 or the other. John
6:66 From that time many of his disciples
went back, and walked no more with him. What will it take to make you quit
on God? Seriously, examine your character and identify your weak spots? (Under
what circumstances have you almost quit in the past?) Then, reinforce those
areas scripturally.
Monday, 12/30/13 Deut 18:13 Thou shalt be perfect with the Lord thy God. There: settle it!!
You’re not good enough. Now, decide which sins you are going to stop
allowing/excusing/tolerating in yourself, and what righteousness you’re going
to start doing. DO IT NOW!! John
13:3 Jesus knowing that the Father had
given all things into his hands... Right before doing a huge task, what did
Christ do? He humbled Himself and served: He washed dirty feet.
Tuesday, 12/31/13 Pro 29:14 The
king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
Properly treating the least, the littlest, and the last will ensure God’s
blessings upon your kingdom.” Ps
18:23b ..and I kept myself from mine
iniquity. Most of the time, we are not strong enough to resist or overcome
our temptations (at least I’m not), so we must avoid them, keep a locked door
between us and them. Figure out how to do this.
Wednesday, 1/1/14 Ps 18:28 For
thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. Do
you feel like you’re in an unending darkness? Keep calling out for God, doing
rightly, and rest upon this promise. Ps
18:25-26 With the merciful thou wilt shew
theyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright; with the
pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself
froward. Don’t like how God is treating you? How are you treating Him and
His people?
Thursday, 1/2/14 Ex 20:12 Honor
thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the
Lord thy God giveth thee. Followers: comprehension of the reasons for the
command is not essential to you obeying the order. Leaders: give legitimate
reasons when you can. Pro
30:20 Such is the way of the adulterous
woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.
Generally, the more wicked someone is, the less aware they are of their spiritual
filthiness; and the more holy they are, the more aware they are of any
filth. Which best describes you? Are you “doing OK” or in desperate need of
help?
Friday, 1/3/14 Ps 20:2 Send
thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion. “Sanctuary”
refers to the house of God; “Zion” is God’s dwelling place. You’ve heard it
1000 times: God’s help comes from church and walking with Him....try them. Ask
“how to” from someone who does. Do
you need protection for your heart, mind, and soul? Pro 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield
unto them that put their trust in him. The Bible is a shield: fill yourself
with good words so there’s no room for bad ones.
Saturday, 1/4/14 Ps 96:3 Declare
his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. Forget talking
about God to the heathen...do you E-V-E-R talk God to your family and friends?
Today, say these words, “God is so good!!’ or “In my Bible reading today...” or
“Let’s pray about that right now.” Ps
119:1 Blessed are the undefiled in the
way, who walk in the law of the Lord. Knowing the Bible, owning a Bible,
memorizing the Bible, studying the Bible....don’t clean you up and keep you
pure. Walk in it: i.e. OBEY WHAT YOU KNOW.
Thoughts from some others
Ps 15:1 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy
hill? Not just visiting, but LIVING
THERE, with an awareness of God’s presence all the time. Vs 205 give the formula; now it’s our job to
put it into practice.
I Cor 6:5 I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among
you? No, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren? As mature Christians, we ought to read and
apply this to every legal matter. The world has a field day when we fail here.
Pro 28:17a A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the
pit, let no man stay him. Violent
crimes must be punished severely if it is to be stopped. Sane, insane, old,
young, rich, poor, regardless of race, etc.
1 Cor 10:2 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
We should never be so arrogant or self confident to think we’re above
sin, or yielding to temptation. Wake up: we are still flesh.
Ps 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be
acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer. This needs to
be the constant daily prayer of every one of us.
I Cor 9:27 but I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest by any
means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. We must exercise self-control, the discipline
of our fleshly appetites if we are to win and impact those living around us in
a wicked, sin-cursed world.
Ps 16:8 The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places: yea, I have a goodly
heritage. We owe it to those who passed salvation’s plan, godliness,
character, love, etc. to practice what we were taught and pass it on.
