- Tuesday, 1/18/22 Psalm 121:1-2, I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. We all know this, so why do we spend so much time and energy
looking at governmental encroachment or by soliciting man’s approval and support for your agenda? Enough with the constant social media posts about government and vaccines. If you want help, PRAY more. Genesis 3:6, And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. Eve ignored the Word of God, and instead made her judgment based on her evaluation...and she killed herself and her husband. But WE would never dismiss the Bible concerning anything, and then do as we reason best? The Bible speaks clearly about God’s thoughts re: alcohol, dress, purity, forgiveness, diligence, association with the wrong crowd, and many more...but OUR way is “pleasant to the eyes...desired to make us wise...” We need to learn from the Bible, not just read the Bible.
- Wednesday, 1/19/22 Psalm 126:1, When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Very simply, give credit to Whom credit is due. Any success is not due to good fortune, skill, proficiency: it is God. Get in the habit, big or little, of looking up and acknowledging. Psalm 126:1, When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. The degree that you remember the pain of captivity is the same degree to which you’ll rejoice at deliverance. How happy (really) are you about being saved? Meditate on what could’ve/should’ve been. Think until the tears come or the heart sings.
- Thursday, 1/20/22 Proverbs 15:3, The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. Cheer up: your good is not unnoticed; straighten up: our bad is not unnoticed; buck up: God’s timing is always right. Romans 13:1, Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. “Being subject” doesn’t mean to take what comes with a rebellious heart, it means to submit sweetly. Very bluntly: are you sweetly submitting to your husband, your wife (yes, fellas, we are to submit also: see Eph 5), your boss...AND YOUR GOVERNMENT??
- Friday, 1/21/22 ‘Wish people respected you more? Forgive when there is no reason to, when the offender is totally guilty. Psalm 130:4, But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared. (BTW, our value of God will go up as we think on all the aspects of His forgiving us.) Proverbs 17:1, Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife. We strive to buy yet another new house, to redo the kitchen, to add a pool, to get new furniture, a new car, a big vacation, a new phone with a better camera...But, how much time do we (really) spend on our relationships? (And don’t kid yourself: those things do NOT enhance the relationship. They may make you more cozy, but the relationship is still the same.)
- Saturday, 1/22/22 Psalm 138:2b, ...for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. This verse teaches that it’s impossible to overemphasize the Bible. But, each of us must ask how much we really emphasize it in our own lives, thoughts, and speech, and how to increase that amount. Psalm 138:7-8a, Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me. The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me... Rest, revel, and relax in those 4 guaranteed statements. He’s got you, dear Christian.
- Sunday, 1/23/22 Philippians 2:7, But [Jesus] made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant... At home, work, school, or church, when people think of you, does the word “servant” enter into their minds at all? Really, if you died, would there be a void of activity done for others? Psalm 107:5, Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. Be aware of a physical lack causing spiritual consequences. Being hungry and tired, I am more likely to be grouchy and discouraged. Know your limits and personal triggers and circumvent them. How much is too much for you? Know when to, and be able to say, “No” to protect your own spirit and thus, those around you. If you don’t care for you, who’ll care for those you’re caring for? (On the flip side, not many of us are in danger of killing ourselves serving others...)
- Monday, 1/24/22 Mark 7:15, There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man. If we can’t keep ourselves from thinking or feeling in an uncharitable manner, we CAN keep it to ourselves. Venting is worse. Psalm 135:4, For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure. God found Jacob (you & me) in the devil’s junkyard, all rusted, dented, with a future that only included being sold for scrap. He took him and fixed him up to become another vintage classic in His garage. You were junk; now you’re a vintage ’57 Chevy or Porsche 911!! What a gracious, wonderful God!!!
