Bible Thoughts by Terry Hedderman

- Tuesday, 1/26/21  Psalm 6:5, For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks? David told God that if

he died, that He would notice a reduction in the amount of thanks He’d receive. Would the heavenly postman who delivers to the throne room notice if our praises suddenly stopped?                                    Acts 17:21, (For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.) Sadly, this verse describes me all too often, and, I believe many believers today: we go to church, we sit and hear, maybe say, “Amen,” and change nothing. Our thinking remains the same; our actions remain the same; our commitment level remains the same...we pay a Pastor to entertain us a few times a week...but we don’t draw closer to the Lord. Let’s strive to change HOW we go to church...

- Wednesday, 1/27/21  Proverbs 20:10, Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the Lord. Regardless of what “commonly accepted practices” are; regards of how many “others are doing it”; we are to live/do business/conduct ourselves as if it was the Lord Himself with Whom we’re dealing. Measure yourself today...at work, at home, on the road. Do you get upset at in others what you tolerate in you?                               Are you good at remembering your appointments? Do you record them on your calendar, or just use your trusty brain? Here’s an appointment that we’d all like to forget, but it’ll still come. 1 Thessalonians 3:3, That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto. We’re appointed to troubles: partly cuz of just living in a corrupted, sin-filled world; partly because we belong to Christ and the world and Satan hate us; and partly because God uses troubles to refine us.

- Thursday, 1/28/21  Proverbs 21:26, [The slothful] coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not. Most of us (like the unsaved), live to see how much we can get; we should live to see how much we can give. How’ll you live TODAY?                                 John 12:43, For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. Sadly, this is true of most of us also. But, we cannot control the amount of praise we receive, so let’s flip the coin: how are you about giving praise? Survey tell us that few employees feel appreciated by their bosses. Kids...same. Spouses...same. Bosses...same. Pastors...same. All of us would like more, so let’s start giving more.

- Friday, 1/29/21  John 14:1a, 2b, Let not your heart be troubled... I go to prepare a place for you. In a troubling, fear-filled time...think about Heaven. It’ll just be a little while and we’ll be there. We can take anything as long as we know it’ll end. It could be today we’ll see the Saviour.                           Ephesians 1:11, In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will. Quit worrying about the liberals. Quit saying disrespectful (i.e. SINFUL) things about Mr. Biden. Quit living in fear. Was the election, the virus, the current state in America, your problems, my problems part of “ALL things”? Start living like you SAY you believe...

- Saturday, 1/30/21  Having a rough time right now? Psalm 92:7, When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever. Remember, the worst we’ll ever endure is here; the best the unsaved will ever know is here. Keep your eyes on the prize.                               Proverbs 6:16&19, These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: ... and he that soweth discord among brethren. To all (my FB friends) who are posting and reposting every negative thing they can find about the liberal left: most of your audience, I’m guessing, are Christians. Are you sowing discord among the brethren? How much have YOU prayed for the liberal leftists? How humbled are YOU? How repentant are YOU about your sins and the country’s? We’re to pray for, honor, and obey those in authority (& Roman Caesars were the ones directly referred to at the time of the writing of the NT scriptures...show me ONE PASSAGE where Paul criticized Roman policies!!)  Sorry to poke you in the eye...but God HATES rebellion.

- Sunday, 1/31/21  Ephesians 1:6, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. His glorious grace paved the way for our total acceptance!! Think on that and shout!! And worship!! And praise!! And weep!! And tell someone else about it!!                                    John 15:3, Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Forgiveness is instantaneous just for the asking. Cleansing, long-term is accomplished with the Bible. Name your sin; find and memorize verses pertaining to it; look for any conditions attached to those verses and implement them; and then work and pray and confess and pray and work and confess again...and one day, you’ll wake up and realize that that particular sin hasn’t bothered you for a while. (It’s still there, and still a potential threat, but it’s corralled.

- Monday, 2/1/21  Haggai 1:2, Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the Lord's house should be built. A reminder that the Lord hears ALL of our casual conversation. If He published today what we said yesterday, how would you react?                              Ephesians 4:31, Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice. Notice that God says to “LET” them be put away from you. How does God do that, i.e. purify us? Thru trials. So your burden may be what’ve you’ve really been wanting and needing and praying for. That undeserved attack may be how God is allowing you to see and get rid of a great offense to Him.
