Bible Thoughts by Terry Hedderman

Sunday, 8/16/15  Mark 3:14, And he ordained 12, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, and to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils. Let us always keep in mind that our full-time Christian servants/preacher boys are FIRST to walk with God, and then to serve people.            Mark 1:34, And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases... We often think that Jesus healed every sick person He encountered. Not so. Here, it says “many” not “all.” Remember the Pool of Bethesda? One out of a multitude was healed. He very well may let you stay sick and show His grace through the sickness. Remember Paul in 2 Cor 12.

Monday, 8/17/15  Mark 4:7, And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. Veteran believer, you once won souls and taught Sunday School and helped on a bus...have you allowed thorns to grow up around you? (See v18-19.) Those who become casualties were first casual about the dangers.         Rev 4:11, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.  What is the difference between glory and honor?? Whenever you see the word “glory” think of a spotlight. “Give God the glory!” That simply make sure the spotlight is on Him and not you.  “Do all for the glory of God”: make sure that your actions and words are lifting Him up and turning people’s eyes toward Him and not you. “Honor” is simply respect, reverence, or value. God deserves to be valued supremely, and therefore, to be given our power (strength, effort).

Tuesday, 8/18/15  Rom 3:24, Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus... Paraphrase: “Being totally exonerated of all charges against us by God’s goodness in action as evidenced by the purchase price that Jesus paid...”          Rev 11:18, And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. What a day that will be!!! Oh, may it be soon. If you do not know 100% for sure that your eternal record is as white as snow, message me...TODAY!!!

Wednesday, 8/19/15  Pro 14:17a, He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly...  Pro 14:29, He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.  Pro 14:33b, ...that which is in the midst of fools is made known. If you’ve got three strikes, you’re....A HOT HEADED FOOL!!          Isa 25:1, O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee; I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. Obeying just this 1 verse will fill my plate and yours too for today, tomorrow, 2016, and the next millennium. Go to it.

Thursday, 8/20/15  Ps 119:25, My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word. Everything about our natural bodies is deteriorating and corrupt. Our only life support, our IV for survival is the Word of God. See v50 also. What can you do to get more Bible into your head and heart?           Acts 16:30, And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? This has always seemed to be an off-the-wall, out-of-the-blue question to me. But I had this thought today, Paul and Silas must have been singing songs about salvation in v25 to prompt him to ask about salvation. Lesson: know who your audience is whenever you open your mouth.

Friday, 8/21/15  Ps 83:16, Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O Lord. Many of the negatives that God admits into the lives of the saved and the unsaved are not to GET them (you), but to get them (you) to turn. There is a difference... Application: turn now, before He ups His game...He knows how to play hardball.           Ps 119:27, Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works. One reason that we don’t talk about the Bible is fear (of being ostracized.) Another reason is ignorance: we don’t have understanding because we are not in it enough, or we don’t think about it enough to learn it.

Saturday, 8/22/15  Pro 15:32, He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding. You can qualify for the first half of the verse by refusing to hear instruction, refusing to listen to it (hearken), or by refusing to heed (obey) it.          It’s undeniable: life is very tough at times. How can we handle it? Ps 119:92, Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction. You don’t prepare for problems after they already arrive... You don’t lift weights during the competition, but before. How’s your Bible life?
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
- Surround yourself with people that speak into you, and not about you. With those that celebrate your future, rather then resurrect your past.
- Sometimes getting over the embarrassment of falling is harder than getting over the consequences.
- Inside every fallen person you know there is a broken person you don't know. You can never restore them until you are willing to find and get to know that hidden person.
- Anyone who thinks that they are too small to make a difference has never tried to fall asleep with a mosquito in the room.
- Your life is made up of time; therefore, what you are doing with your time is what you are doing with your life. Use it wisely!
- I am filled with pride and Christ was filled with humility. Go figure.
- If your forgiveness is not a bit costly and painful than it probably isn't really forgiveness.
- Your reason not to forgive someone is not an acceptable excuse to Christ who gave himself for that sin. Forgive today, for His sake.
- Taking up your cross and following Christ is dangerous if you have not FIRST denied yourself. Many a cross bearer and Christ follower are worthless because of the pride that came from not first becoming a self denier. Without denying self we can also attempt to do the others in our own power. Being a disciple always begins with self denial.
- It is a shame that millions of people wish they could read and millions who can read seldom do. What are you reading these days?

Bible Thoughts from some others
- Bible thoughts! Ps 17:5, Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not. We try everything else for comfort, strength, peace of mind, contentment, but we fail to go to THE ONE Who truly has all the answers! Why not give God the benefit of the doubt today?! He's awesome, you'll see!

- Bible thoughts! Ps 19:14, Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord , my strength, and my redeemer. What a great goal for today--watching our tongues!

- Bible thoughts! Ps 18:1, I will LOVE thee, O Lord , my strength. We all long for and desire someone to love us. What about God? Has it ever occurred to us that even He wants to be loved?

- 1 Chron  11:6, And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites shall be chief and captain. So Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief. Leaders should be chosen after they have first proven themselves.

- Pro 14:30a, A sound heart is the life of the flesh. Physical health and spiritual heart health are inseparable. Maybe that could cut our health care costs.

- 1 Chron 21:30, but David could not go before it to inquire of God: for he was afraid because of the sword of the Lord. Sin always causes fear and separation from God.

- 2 Chron 1:7, In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee. We are about to find out the source of Solomon’s greatness. Our prayer requests are a reflection of what we are spiritually.

- Jud 16:4, And to came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah. Physical strength and moral strength are not always synonymous.

- Bible thoughts!! Ps 20:6, Now know I that the Lord saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. God's mighty power over us is very evident day after day! That's sure something to shout about!

- Doing right pays. Doing wrong pays. Both pay. Doing wrong pays now. Fast reward. Doing right pays later. Slow reward. When I'm weak, "fast pay" is instantly rewarding. Esau took that option, while Jacob was banking on the "slow pay." Life is filled with consumers and investors. Of course, right and wrong can be relative or absolute. Either way, it pays!
