Tuesday, 8/16/16 John 13:10, Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needed not save to wash his feet,
but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all. Jesus referred to 2
areas/types of washing. A bath = full cleansing and corresponds to eternal
forgiveness. A footwashing = daily confession and corresponds to temporal forgiveness.
Both are “NEEDS.”
John 13:10, Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needed not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all. 1Every unsaved person needs a complete spiritual washing (bath) to be clean. 2Every believer needs regular foot washing. (How’re your feet?) 3Both the bath and the foot washing are “needed.” 4Jesus said that it’s possible to be “clean every whit” and still NEED to wash the feet. 5Therefore, it’s possible to be bathed/totally clean, and still need to wash the feet. Dr. Don Boyd: “Christians need to take a daily spiritual bath.” Are your feet dirty from your daily walk in this world? Go walk with the Saviour and get your feet cleansed via some confession.

Wednesday,
8/17/16 Exo 32:14, And the Lord repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his
people. Basic definition: Repent means to rethink or to change the mind
(which leads to an automatic change in actions.) There is no visible sign or
demand of regret or sorrow. The
unsaved are 1-dimensional beings: 1They only have this life here on
earth; 2they have 1 nature only; 3they can only commit
acts of sin (Pro 15:8; 15:26; 21.27); 4they cannot please God (Rom
8:8); 5God only sees their sins (Matt 7:21-23). Salvation brings an additional dimension: 1believers
live in the here and now, but also in the heavenlies (Eph 2:6); 2we
have an old nature and a new nature in the same body (Rom 7:15); 3we
may choose to commit sin or perform acts of righteousness (Rom 6:13); 4we
can live in such a way that we are pleasing in His sight (1 John 3:22); 5we
are sinful here and God is aware of it (Matt 6:15), but we are sinless there
(Ps 32:1-2).
Thursday,
8/18/16 Rev 6:14, And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and
every mountain and island were moved out of their places. On the one hand,
the God that can do this can handle your problem, and on the other hand, the
God that would do this is not to be trifled with. This one will sting...how often do you lie?
Daily? Weekly? Pro 14:5, A faithful
witness will not lie: but a false witness WILL utter lies.
Friday, 8/19/16 Yes, the unsaved are having a good time. Pro
15:21, Folly is joy to him that is
destitute of wisdom. BUT there are no hangovers with Jesus. What types of
witness are you? Pro 14:5, A faithful witness will not lie:
but a false witness will
utter lies. Pro 14:25, A true witness delivereth souls:
but a deceitful witness
speaketh lies. Faithful? False? True? Deceitful? Which best characterizes you?
(Before you answer, how long has it been since you won a soul? By not going
soul winning, aren’t you saying that Hell is not that big of a deal/danger to
the unsaved?)
Saturday,
8/20/16 Exo 34:21, Six days thou shalt work, but on the 7th thou shalt rest: in
earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest. Be sure God gets His due even
during special, busy, or holiday times. (Church, tithes, devotions, soul
winning, purity, etc.) You’re
saved, but do you live a heavenly life or a hellish one? Pro 15:24, The way of life is above to the wise, that
he may depart from hell beneath.
Sunday, 8/21/16 Lam 3:23a, [Your mercies] are new every morning. Ps 136:1b, And his mercy endureth for ever. Are you
aware of these new mercies sent by the heavenly messenger? We access mercy by
acknowledging our sins and turning from them. So, do you see yourself today as
“wicked” or “doing OK”? Do
you have bad character flaws? Pro 16:6a,
By mercy and truth iniquity is purged.
Seek mercy (i.e., own up to and apologize WITHOUT justifying your actions) and
be truthful: it’s S-I-N; your actions were not a result of your makeup or
ethnic background or family heritage. 16:6b,
and by the fear of the Lord men depart
from evil. Get God involved (study all the verses that pertain to your sin
and pray earnestly for victory and do rightly.)
Monday, 8/22/16 ILL of forgiveness: throwing away an IOU:
there is a legitimate debt for which you are perfectly within your rights to
demand payment, but you throw away the need to pay. Ezra 7:10, For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do
it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments. What preparations of the
heart are necessary to come to God/His Word?
1Clean it: confess
and forsake sin. “Search me O God...” 2Humble
it. Be aware of being needy. 3Open it (Pro 3:1). 4Decide
to obey what you see.

Bible thoughts from
some others:
- Ps 119:71, It is good for me that I have been
afflicted: that I might learn thy statutes. The problems of life are
opportunities to trust and seek God and His will and desires.
- Pro 19:11, He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied
with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.
There is no substitute for ambition and hard work.
- Pro 31:26, ...in her mouth is the law of kindness. I
hope to encourage myself on this path in God’s word. When I follow it, I have a
lot more joy and far less problems.
- Pro 11:27, He that diligently seeketh good procureth
favor. Lord, help me to diligently seek the good of others and let this
practice become my character.
- Pro 12:25, Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it
stoop, but a good word maketh it glad. Lord, helpo me to be faithful in
yoru good Word that I may have a good word for others.
- Pro 18:8, The words of a talebearer are as wounds,
they go down into the intermost parts of the belly. Lord, help me to
remember always that gossip truly is a poison to myself and others.
Ps 19:10, More to be desired are [thy words] than
gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Lord, help me to read and heed that I may succeed.
