Bible Thoughts by Terry Hedderman

Sunday, 4/6/14  Matt 11:4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things... Aren’t you glad the Lord doesn’t scold us for not getting it the first time, or for not remembering something? “Go tell him again!!” How patient He is with our humanity!!! I love you Lord.
2 Pet 1:2-3, 5 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, according as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath call us to glory and virtue...add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge. Four times “knowledge” is mentioned is mentioned in Chapter 1 along with at least 10 other usages of words that pertain to learning. A major part of the successful Christian life is “plain ol’ book learning.”  Each of us HAS to “read the Textbook” AND go to “lecture class” i.e. SS and church.  Then, we go to “lab class” (putting truth into practice and reaching out to help the community) to implement what we’ve learned. We can talk with the lecturer (SS teacher/pastor) after class or the Head Professor any time. Occasionally, we’ll have difficult tests to take...and pass...and retake til we do.  It’s not complicated...but it does take time, diligence, and work. Maybe this is why you’re having a hard time???? Skipping “lecture”? Not doing your “outside reading”? Blowing off “lab”?
Monday, 4/7/14  Matt 14:14 (right after John’s beheading) And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick. Jesus had to be grieving for his cousin, yet He served. I don’t know if this is put here to show us how to deal with grief or if He just put others’ needs in front of His own.                                    Pro 4:26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Are you pleased with your direction and speed in life? Is God? In the last 5 years, have you gotten closer to God or no? Are your relationships better or worse? Are you more or less holy? Where will today’s steps lead you to be 5 years from now?
Tuesday, 4/8/14  Ps 119:139 My zeal hath consumed me, because mine enemies have forgotten thy words. Far too often and far too easily we let the strength and zeal and volume and successes of our enemies squelch our zeal. Serve God today. Live holy today. Pass out a tract today. Encourage a brother today.                              Ps 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. What good is light? It keeps us from stumbling; helps us find what we need; shows us allies and enemies; quells fears; facilitates most other activities. Open your Bible and turn up the lights.
Wednesday, 4/9/14  My theme for the person of Job:  You can take whatever God allows to come your way.  His main lesson: Even the best Christian can become better, and that betterment often comes by way of a trial.                             Ps 94:19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul. Amidst the cacophony of negativity, listen for the still small voice speaking words of comfort:  I am with you”, “I understand”, I’m still on the throne and in control.”
Thursday, 4/10/14  Ps 119:155 Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes. Your salvation from your problems (marital, child rearing, sin, fear, doubt, etc.) (or at least the answer for them) is never far off if you keep seeking God’s mind and His will.                             Pro 5:1 My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding. If we want wisdom and understanding, then:  1we’ll have to really focus on them and work for them, and,  2we’ll have to humble ourselves to find them.
Friday, 4/11/14  Ps 100:1-2 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Are you happy in Christ today? Let your face know it if you are, and then invite your lips and voice to the party: sing, smile, serve...all day, every day!!!                           Ps 99:8 Thou answeredest them O Lord our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions. God answered them and forgave them, but acted negatively regarding their actions/deeds. Perhaps when we think God “is judging us” He is simply cleansing our lives of things that offend Him all the while forgiving us personally.
Saturday, 4/12/14  Pro 8:27-28 When he prepared the heavens, I [wisdom] was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth: when he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep. God meditated on Scripture while He worked. We need to find ways to do that. Give me your ideas!!!                         Job 42:11 Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the Lord had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold. Eating with, empathizing with, and comforting one who had had deep problems is great. Giving something tangible is important too.

Thoughts from some others
Ecc 9:15 Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man. You may feel insignificant, but one wise word may deliver your church, family, or city.
Rev 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power...  The moment we start thinking that we’re worthy....we are not.
Ps 116:15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.  For the unsaved world, death is a tragic, fearful event, but for those who are saved, saints of God, it is a promotion and a blessing both to the saint and to the Lord.
Pro 9:15 ...to call passengers who go right on their ways...  The wicked woman is after our young who are inexperienced, naive, and trying to go in the right direction and do right. She almost takes pleasure in causing clean young men to fall.
Ps 118:20 O give thanks unto the Lord for he is good: fo rhis mercy endureth forever.  What an awesome truth: all God gives us is good, and we have His never ending mercy just in case we stumble or mess up in our daily walk.  Of course, the psalmist is grateful for such a God.
Ps 119:24 Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counselors. In a day when psychological, emotional, and mental problems are keeping psychiatrists, psychologists, doctors, and pharmacies busy, maybe delighting in God’s words and testimonies could prevent, and even cure most of the problem.
