Bible thoughts by Terry Hedderman

- Tuesday, 11/23/21 Psalm 69:4a, They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head.  Those who don’t like you, who have an issue against you...is their any

validity to their accusations? It’s so easy to deflect guilt with a “yeah, but they...” Are you wrong? (Novel concept, I know.)                           Matthew 27:24, When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it. Because Pilate was willing to compromise what he knew to be right (“I find no fault”), because of wanting human approval, an innocent man (in his eyes, He was a normal Man) was executed. What beliefs are you currently compromising to fit in at work or with your friends? What standard will you drop during this upcoming holiday seasons? Dress? Alcohol? Skipping church? Missing personal devotions? Realize that you’re choosing a VERY slippery slope and a dangerous course.

- Wednesday, 11/24/21  Psalm 129:3-4a, The plowers plowed upon my back: they made long their furrows. The LORD is righteous... A sign of maturity is still believing He is right when “the plowers” are actively cutting furrows on your back. Is He right to allow that pain into your life right now?                                   Matthew 5:20, For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. Jesus said that unless one could be substantially better than those who were considered flawless, then salvation must be acquired a different way than good deeds. It is possible to KNOW, 1000% for sure, that the moment that your heart stops, you’ll be in Heaven. If you do NOT know that, without a doubt, message me.

- Thursday, 11/25/21  Psalm 129:3-4a, The plowers plowed upon my back: they made long their furrows. The Lord is righteous... Note: those using the plows were not trying to damage the land, but to make it more productive. Likewise, your afflicters may NOT be “picking on you:” they may be being used by God to increase your worth and, thereby, to give another something they desperately need.                            Matthew 5:29, And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. To those who say the word here for Hell (Gahenna) refers to the garbage dump outside of Jerusalem and not a place of torment and punishment beyond the grave, consider this: if someone dies here today, their body will never get to Jerusalem, so this Scripture either has no meaning to us, or what you’ve been taught is wrong.

- Friday, 11/26/21  Psalm 129:4, The Lord is righteous: he hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked. A question for each of us to ask ourselves OFTEN: “Do I praise as much, as often, and as loudly when the pain is removed as I gripe when it is present?” (Ouch...)                            Colossians 1:3, We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you.  It’s a season to give thanks.  1) Are you thank-FULL? This demands an awareness.  2) Do you actually express the thanks in your heart?  3) Do you do anything worthy of receiving thanks from another? In which of the 3 could you step up your game?

- Saturday, 11/27/21  Psalm 131:1, Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me. Oh may we be able to say this verse as a prayer. Look up the meanings of the 4 phrases...(if you can stand the conviction.)                               Psalm 130:3-4, If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared. Sadly, many Christians are dirty of soul. They seldom wash, and when they do, it’s as if they’re in the Sahara and can only use a few drops of water. When is the last time, you took a good, thorough spiritual bath? When you scrubbed and scrubbed and searched for more dirt...and enlisted His help in washing areas you couldn’t see? He’s so ready to forgive, if we’ll just come. “Search me, O God!!”

- Sunday, 11/28/21  John 14:1, Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. Forgive me for saying it so crudely, but sometimes we’ll need “Big Daddy’s muscles, ” and sometimes we’ll need “Big Brother’s compassion.” He is whatever we need. Get to know Him; believe in Him.                           Proverbs 22:12, The eyes of the Lord preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor. Context indicates that the preserved knowledge is about sin. That thing that you thought you got away with and that is forgotten in the past...He still knows about it. If we try to hide our sin, He’s really good at exposing it and making us confront it publicly , but if we’ll bring it to Him and deal with it privately, He’s really good at putting it totally behind us. Our choice...

- Monday, 11/29/21  An unpleasant truth in Christianity, and maybe an explanation of a lot of “unexplained wrong” in our lives. Matthew 6:15, But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. If the shoe fits...ask the Holy Shoe Salesman to help you.                            Matthew 6:19-20, Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth...but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven..: A “to do” and a “not to do.” Are you doing 1 of each? The correct one of each? Or, doing 2 positives? Two negatives? Can you adjust the amount treasure going each direction? How? Will you?
