Bible Thoughts by Terry Hedderman

Tuesday, 9/6/15  Mark 15:14, Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? The unsaved, heathen, idolatrous Pilate knew Jesus had done no evil, and yet we so often charge God foolishly with mistreating us or ignoring our plights or neglecting our prayers. Shame on us, and Lord, forgive us.             Rom 6:4b, ...like as Christ was raised up from the dead...even so we also should walk in newness of life. A pointed, personal question: Is your daily walk a “new walk of life” or “the old walk of death”? Maybe, honestly, you are in need of some revival. Only you can answer and only you can partake. Are you? Will you? How?

Wednesday, 9/7/16  Having a hard time? However bad it is right now, “forget not all his benefits,” Ps 103:2. You can still “bless the Lord.” If you’re saved, your glass is WWAAAAYYYYY more than half full...quit looking at the few drops missing off of the top.                 “How to Live a Blessed Life” in two verses (a summation of how to act toward all people): Pro 3:3-4, Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them upon thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: so shalt thou find favor and good understanding in the sight of God and man. Truth for self (hold yourself to higher standards); mercy for all others (expect others to hold to lower standards and to fail that benchmark often.) (Also, save a little mercy for yourself.)

Thursday, 9/8/16  Want more respect? Then forgive more. Ps 130:4, But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.                 Ps 107:2, Let the redeemed of the Lord say so... Say what? V1, O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. We’re to speak about God’s mercy. How long has it been since you personally attempted to win a soul to Christ? Soul winning is not an option; it’s a command. It’s not a gift; it’s an order. Passing out a tract is good, but not enough. Actually attempt to talk to the person about what Christ did for them.

Friday, 9/9/16  Ps 108:2b-3a, I myself will awake early. I will praise thee, O Lord... The Bible pattern is to meet God at the beginning of your day. Get up earlier and have an appointment with the King.            Num 32:7,And wherefore discourage ye the heart of the children of Israel... Do you encourage or discourage people to attempt great things for God, or are you more likely to say, “Better think twice...,” “...not much money down that road...,” “You’ll cool down...,” “God knows that you’ve gotta provide for your family...,” “I just don’t see how that is gonna turn out...”

Saturday, 9/10/16  Ps 137:4, How shall we sing the Lord’s song in a strange land. If you find yourself in a negative, strange, new world (chronic illness, divorced/separated, unemployed, etc.) be very conscious of meeting your own spiritual needs: keep your head up and keep on singing.              Pro 8:9, [The words of God’s mouth] are plain to him that understandeth... Are your word plain? Or do you speak in circles and innuendo and give forth a convoluted confused message? When people leave you, do they wonder what in the world you were talking about? Unwise...

Sunday, 9/11/16  Pro 8:19, My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. Wisdom’s treasures are worth more than a pile of cash. So, on what do you expend more effort and desire? Wisdom or wealth?             Ps 149:1-2 Praise ye the Lord.  Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise in the congregation of the saints.  Let Israel rejoice in him that made him:  let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. Some get the glory of singing; some had to write the music; some got to print it; some organized the congregation; some played the instruments; some listened; some praised; some rejoiced.  Everyone has a part in God’s symphony.

Monday, 9/12/16  Matt 16:15, But whom say ye that I am? Jesus craved assurance and reassurance. John 21:16, He saith unto him the third time, Simon...lovest thou me? You do too. So do others. While you’re waiting for others to assure you of their love and friendship and belief in you, you assure them of yours.             Living with people requires mercy: given and gotten. However, oftentimes, the temptation arises to revisit the issue that was forgiven. Then when we must act as God. His mercy endureth for ever. “Once forgiven - still forgiven.” Apply to your kids, spouse, and employees.

Tuesday, 9/13/15  Isa 50:10, Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness and hath no light? Let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God. In troubles, you don’t need a reason from God as much as you need a relationship with God.                Gen 39:2, And the Lord was with Joseph... (Said 5x in Bible.) God came to where he was, but He didn’t take Joseph out of his circumstances. He’ll probably not take you out of your circumstances either, but will comfort and teach and be with you IN your problem. Quit asking for and longing for deliverance and start asking for and longing for God’s presence and learn His lessons.

Wednesday, 9/14/16  Doing yourself a favor or hitting your thumb with a hammer...which will you choose this morning? Pro 11:17, The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.               Pro 11:18b, ...but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward. Righteousness: the crop that never faileth. Sow a good crop today so you can be blessed tomorrow.

Bible thoughts from some others:
- Ps 126:6, He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. If we have no tears for the lost before going soul winning, we shouldn’t be surprised if there are no converts and no joy afterwards.

- Ps 127:5, Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate. The rearing of children for the Lord and for right is invaluable when we are seniors. It is a source of true joy and happiness.

- John 17:20, Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which believe on me through their word. What an awesome truth!! HE PRAYED FOR ME!!!!
