- Monday, 1/2/17 Job
36:22b, Behold, God exalteth by his
power: who teacheth like him? “Lord, help me to trust the teaching methods
that You’re using on me...especially when the class is a hard one and the
concepts difficult.” Read
Ecc 3:1-8. A time to be born, and a time
to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; a time
to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up...
In looking at these 14 pairs of events, sometimes the obvious positive comes
first and sometimes the obvious negative is listed first. Or it is obvious?
(Read them) Lesson: we don’t know which events in our lives are really positive
and which are really negative. Example: Joseph in Genesis; 3 Hebrew children in
furnace; Paul’s troubles; John being exiled...to get the Revelation.
- Tuesday, 1/3/17 Ps
39:1, I said, I will take heed to my
ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while
the wicked is before me. Here are two areas in which we all could probably
tighten up. Ps
75:1, Unto thee, O God, do we give
thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous
works declare. To give thanks, we first MUST be aware, and then realize the
source of the goodness. Then we must choose to acknowledge Him, and take the
final step of actually expressing the gratitude.
- Wednesday, 1/4/17 Pro
29:10, The bloodthirsty hate the upright:
but the just seek his soul. Notice that the just man doesn’t just NOT
reciprocate the bad, but tries to do good instead. Are you just? Wanna
help your kids? Recommit yourself to God. Ps
112:1-2, Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is
the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. His
seed shall be mighty upon the earth: the generation of the upright shall be
blessed.
- Thursday, 1/5/17 Pro
31:11, The heart of [the virtuous
woman’s] husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of
spoil. Wives, can your husband trust you enough to open his heart without
you minimizing or dismissing his dreams, goals, thoughts, and feelings? Pro 1:7, The fear of the Lord is the beginning of
knowledge. Ps 114:7, Tremble, thou
earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob.
Settle it forever: the “the fear of the
Lord” involves some actual fright.
- - Friday, 1/6/17 Psalm 113:2,
Blessed be the name of the Lord from this
time forth and for evermore. Whatever your relationship HAS BEEN with the
Lord, live “from this time forth.” Psalm 81:1, Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a
joyful noise unto the God of Jacob. When did you last obey this verse? Shut
off Facebook, and rectify that in the next few minutes.
- Saturday, 1/7/17 Luke
16:14, And the Pharisees also, who were
covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him. What is your
reaction when your sin is named? To attack the preacher? Justify yourself?
Claim the “hypocrisy of THAT church”? Or, honest admission and repentance? Psalm 86:5, For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to
forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee. “Ready
to forgive” means capable of being appeased or pacified. Do you hold grudges
and remember offenses, or are you willing, ready, and able to let it go and
move on?
- Sunday, 1/8/17 Are you
doing ALL you can to fix your situation? Psalm 86:3, Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I CRY unto thee DAILY. Is life hard
for you right now? Do you feel forsaken and lonely? Read Psalm 88, OUT
LOUD. 1Realize that others are having it rough too. If there’s
no one there to listen to your heart’s cry, be there for someone else. 2Even
if you feel that God has forsaken you, don’t forsake Him. 3If
there’s nothing you can do but hurt, get up tomorrow and hurt while you walk
forward doing what the Lord would have you do.
- Monday, 1/9/17 Isaiah
8:13, Sanctify [set apart, as
special] the Lord of hosts himself; and
let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. A good New Years verse. Proverbs 3:3,
Let not mercy and truth forsake thee:
bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart. “To
forsake” means to leave behind, so this indicates that mercy and truth are
moving. Tie yourself to them.

Bible thoughts from some others:
- Isa 55:6, Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is
near. A merciful, gracious invitation to a lost world!
- Josh 7:15a, And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be
burnt with fire, he and all that he hath. This is but a taste of the wrath
of a holy God, and will be mild versus the Great White Throne of Judgment and
Hell for all who reject Christ’s payment for sin.
- Isa 54:17, No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper: and every tongue
that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the
heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith
the Lord. What a great secure truth for the servants of God.
- Ps 70:4, Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such
as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified. Faithful, soul
winning Christians are a joyful group, who find a way to praise the Lord in
spite of problems, hard times, and the difficulties of life.
- Ps 71:21, Thou shalt increase my greatness and comfort me on every side. We
need to trust God to promote us and to help us if we are down. He’s all we need
and what we need.
- Pro 6:29, So he that goeth into his neighbor’s wife: whosoever toucheth her shall
not be innocent. Too bad this is not preached, taught, and practiced in our
fundamental Baptist churches today. Sin is as damaging and deadly as ever! Its
end is still death and destruction.
- Ps 73:24, Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
Praise the Lord that we can have counsel from God, the King James Bible, His
promise to come for us and for Heaven!
