Bible thoughts by Terry Hedderman

- Tuesday, 5/3/22  Psalm 73:4, For there are no bands in [the wicked man’s] death: but their strength is firm. Evaluating our situation as it compares to

others’ is always faulty. We may see some aspects of their status, but we don’t know the problems behind closed doors, the fears, the strife in their home, the hopelessness. Do right, as God defines it, and leave it at that, and keep looking at Christ.                            Are you one of those who say, “I feel the emotions on the inside; I just don’t show them.” Wow, your learning curve will be STEEP in Heaven. Psalm 33:21, For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. You WILL be like a powerful fountain; you won’t be able to contain your affection and happiness and love in Heaven: it’ll burst forth non-stop. Stop with the flimsy excuses trying to cover insecurities and pride: “Rejoice, and again I say, rejoice!!”

- Wednesday, 5/4/22  Psalm 37:12, The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth. A reminder that the unsaved people in your world ARE unsaved and will act like it. We don’t like their actions and intentions, but shouldn’t be shocked at them. They need Christ, not animosity from us.                             Proverbs 1:1, The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel. The Book of Proverbs primarily, was written from a father to a son. Here’s a challenge: are you passing on anything philosophical to your kids, in any way, shape, or form? Write it, record it, video it, dictate it...but don’t let your life’s lessons die with you.

- Thursday, 5/5/22  Here’s a verse to gauge the success of our Christian living, a verse to measure ourselves by. Psalm 37:30, The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment. How often in a day do you speak of the Bible?                             How patient is the Lord!!! Hallelujah!! Mark 10:34-35, And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again. And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire. Jesus is talking about His death, and they were thinking of their own desires! Talk about not being on the same page...or even in the same library!! Yet, we are often like James and John. Remember, His agenda tops ours by an infinite amount.

- Friday, 5/6/22  John 15:10, If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love... It doesn’t say that if we keep the commandments that we WILL be loved, but that we’ll abide in His love: we’ll live in it, be aware of it, be immersed with it, and feel it.                          Psalm 72:1, Give the king THY judgments, O God, and THY righteousness unto the king's son. I’m sure all of would say that we try to be a good Christian, however, being a good Christian is simply relying more and more on Christ: His wisdom, His strength: and allowing the Holy Spirit to flow through us with less hindrances. It’s more of Him until we simply cannot be seen as even being there trying to be like Him.

- Saturday, 5/7/22  Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Don’t forget and neglect the basic truths that you learned long ago. Trust, put weight upon, and acknowledge...and He WILL...                                2 Peter 1:12, Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. New and flashy is usually preferred over the same ol’-same ol’, but we need to reminded of the same things over and over...cuz we slowly slack off from the usual. We need to be reminded over and over again to forgive, to love, to give, to continue teaching that class, to stay married to the same one, to be honest, to work hard, to be on soul patrol, to confess and forsake. Compliment your pastor if he obey this verse.

- Sunday, 5/8/22  Daniel 1:8, But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. The man Daniel is a study in tact. How much do you have?                           Daniel 1:4, Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans. Bosses still usually choose and promote based on exterior characteristics. Look sharp. There’s a prepared place for a prepared man.

- Monday, 5/9/22  Psalm 40:17a, But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me.  Twelve words that could comfort, cheer, motivate, and thrill you. Twelve words to meditate on.  Think about it: He’s thinking about you.                         Psalm 39:1, I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me. He expressed concern and gave attention to a specific, problematic body part. Could you name one of yours? Are you aware of its tendencies, weaknesses, and most alluring times? Are you working on controlling it today with inward prayer and outward modifications to your routine or environment?
