Bible Thoughts by Terry Hedderman

- Tuesday, 7/28/20  Matthew 8:2, And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. Christian, if thou wilt, you can win souls. If thou wilt, you can

forgive. If thou wilt, you can tithe and give to foreign missions. If thou wilt, you can stand. Will you?                                  Psalm 4:5, Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord. Make no mistake, living righteously DOES involve a sacrifice on our part. There are fun things that we miss out on. Very simply, how much are you willing to forego to be holy? Where is your line of “I’ll go no farther than this”? Modest dress? Soul winning? Tithing? Casinos? Regular/more church? Speaking for Christ at work? Sacrifice...and trust God. He’s gonna come out on top, and He rewards handsomely.

- Wednesday, 7/29/20  Psalm 50:1, The mighty God, even the Lord, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof. He’s calling for repentance, for revival, for reversal, for renewal, for rededication. Are you listening? Are you responding? Recently?                             Psalm 9:10, And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. Contrary to popular opinion, contrary to what our hearts tell us, contrary to what the Devil whispers in our ears, He hasn’t forsaken those that seek Him, and He won’t. Keep on trudging forward, Weary One: you’re almost home.

- Thursday, 7/30/20  Psalm 50:19, Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit. Talking to hurt someone; exaggerating or outright lying about someone...we’d NEVER do that, would we? We’re “good Christians.” (Unless they really DESERVE it, huh?)                         Proverbs 27:14, He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him. Remember that today will be the best day in someone’s life (maybe yours), and today also will be the worst day in someone’s life (maybe yours.) Bottom line: be attentive, alert, sensitive, and appropriate.

- Friday, 7/31/20  “Where are You, God??” Psalm 50:23, Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God. Maybe He’s tripping over our tongues. Notice: if we control our conversation, He shows His strength.                                    Proverbs 28:3, A poor man that oppresseth the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food. Notice, someone who oppresses another in the same boat is devastating. Be careful about unloading on someone when you’re having a bad day: you may CRUSH that one’s already frail spirit. Don’t share your bad attitude with anyone but the Lord. He’s capable of handling it, and has the wherewithal to help you.

- Saturday, 8/1/20  Psalm 51:6, Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. Regardless of what others think of you; regardless of your reputation, how’re your inward parts? A hard question to hear but a needed topic to address for all.                                    Proverbs 28:13, He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. Does it matter to you who points out a legitimate fault in you? “Well, they had no right!!” Maybe not, but didn’t we transgress first in having that fault? Don’t reject the message because it was from one you don’t like or it was said less than tactfully. God may be trying to humble you a bit as well as pointing out an offense to Him. (The next verse says, Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.)

- Sunday, 8/2/20  Psalm 51:7-8, Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. The Christian life is MUCH happier when we’re clean. How’s your happiness level these days?                         Matthew 12:24, But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. If the unsaved crowd twisted and distorted facts and told half-truths and made wrong suppositions about Christ, they’ll probably do the same to us. Don’t be surprised or hurt: the unsaved WILL act like their father.

- Monday, 8/3/20  Matthew 12:33, Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. An apple may be perfect, but someone who doesn’t like apples will criticize it. If you know your fruit is good, don’t change if another doesn’t like apples.                              Are you getting some flak at work? Feeling a little persecuted?  Psalm 57:6, They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah. (Of course, honestly evaluate if the criticism may be justified) But, realize that the lost crowd may simply be trying to bring you down to their level of despair and petty bitterness. What are we to do? V7-9, My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise. Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.
