Bible thoughts by Terry Hedderman

- Tuesday, 7/26/22  Psalm 119:130a, The entrance of thy words giveth light. It doesn’t say a spotlight to help with just a single problem. Letting God’s word enter your life will illuminate all aspects of your

“room.” Turn on the light, and you may find what you didn’t even know you were looking for or needed.                              Philippians 2:12b, ...but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. The verb “work out” means “to accomplish or put the final touches on.” If you’re born again, you WILL go to Heaven. (BTW, the new birth is the ONLY means of entering. If you’re not sure what that means, you probably are not. Please message me, ASAP.) You’re going to Heaven: now, put on the final coat of paint and the last landscaping. Are you a soul winner bringing anyone with you? Are you bringing grudges you have or others have against you? Are you sending any money ahead through giving to God? Are you assisting your pastor to do his job? Work it out...while being afraid that you will make a mistake, or trip and fall while carrying a fancy ornament.

- Wednesday, 7/27/22  Psalm 63:1, O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee... We chose to have a relationship with God and got saved. Now, we must choose daily to act so as to allow the relationship to prosper. We must give up our selfish will for “us.” Same goes for spouses. Same for churches. How’re yours?                               Proverbs 20:1, Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. Whatever your beliefs regarding some drinking vs. no drinking; social vs. getting drunk...regardless, God says one characteristic of alcohol is deception. It’s reasonable to assume that the closer one gets to a liar, the more likely it is that the person will be deceived. So, “not seeing anything wrong with it” MAY be a sure sign that you’ve been duped.

- Thursday, 7/28/22  Psalm 61:2, From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. It’s true: when we get to where all we have is Christ, we find Christ is all we need. Don’t dismiss it becuz it’s a cute statement. Absorb it and live it. Run to the Rock.                          Psalm 64:1, Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy. Notice the second half: a plea for protection from the effects of fear. Fear is debilitating. What is it that scares you? Economic/money issues? Your health? Other’s health? The future? Admit it; return, and draw closer to Christ.

- Friday, 7/29/22  John 15:11, These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. Joy is clearly tied to the Bible. Wanna get more joy? Get more Bible. Joy is the underlying calm when a storm stirs the surface waters.                         Deuteronomy 32:47, For [the words I speak unto you are] not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it. God’s word is NOT an empty thing for us blood-washed Bible believers!! How’s your relationship to It? Those words are our LIFE, not a time filler. Our ticket to a golden future, not a check mark on a reading schedule. Maybe you and He need to talk so as to hit the red reset button concerning your attitude toward God’s words?

- Saturday, 7/30/33  Habakkuk 2:3, For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. We need to be reminded frequently cuz we forget frequently:  God runs by God’s timetable, not ours. Wait for it...                         Matthew 11:11, Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. How can anyone be greater than one of the superstars of the Bible? We can’t be more saved, more forgiven, or more of a child of God.  It means “more extreme”:  more in love with God, more passionately hating sin, more deeply loving the brethren.  In Heaven, the worst of us will make Bro. Hyles look like a cold dry Episcopalian.  If that’s your eventual end, become more of that now.

- Sunday, 7/31/22  Matthew 11:3, And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? What an encouragement!!!! John needed reassurance that Jesus really was the Messiah. Maybe I’m not as...inconsistent? luke-warm? sin-FULL as the devil or my flesh would have me believe.                               John 19:38, And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus. Joseph here had been an undercover believer for years, but this day saw him step into the spotlight, never to be able to hide again. Whatever you’ve been for Christ up until now, especially if it’s been less than noteworthy, today is a new day with new opportunities to step up and make your love for your Lord known. Step up or stay in the shadows?

- Monday, 8/1/22  Proverbs 31:10, Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Did you get a “good ‘un”? Did you hit the spousal lottery? Do THEY know that you think you married way out of your league? Have you told them? Thanked God? Are you protecting your marriage like a pile of rubies? It CAN go away...out of the blue.                                  The fruit of a plant is another fruit bearing plant. Are you a fruitful Christian? Did you used to be? If the answer to the last question is “yes,” then, (I’m sorry), God says why that is. Matthew 13:22, He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. The unwanted thorn branches MUST be cut back. It’s gonna hurt; you’ll feel vulnerable and ashamed; it’s only the first step in a process...but you CAN become a fruit bearer again. The next step is yours.
