Bible Thoughts by Terry Hedderman

Sunday, 1/5/12  Ps 22 is prophetic of the Cross....1000 years ahead of time. God knew and orchestrated the future to work out perfectly back then, and He can go the same for you in 2014. Walk with Him...He knows where you’re going. (Read that again.)                Deut 32:6 Do you thus requite the Lord, O foolish people and unwise? Is not he thy father that hath bought thee? Hath he not made thee, and established thee? You OWE God your loyalty, your obedience, your service!! He is your Father, your Owner, the One Who has fashioned you, and your Creator.

Monday, 1/6/14  Ps 23:2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still water. All of us need quiet time to recharge ourselves. Make it happen: put down the electronics and pick up God’s book. Come apart and meet God or you will come apart.              Pro 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. It’s our responsibility to fulfill the first half of the verse, and it’s God’s job to do the second half. We cause ourselves great frustration and make huge messes when we cross the line and try to do God’s job.

Tuesday, 1/7/14  Pro 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. “Put my weight on God or trust my own understanding??” It’s a no-brainer...but do it. Trusting God will be easier with more Bible in you. What changes do you need to make in your Bible life?              Pro 3:6a In all thy ways acknowledge him... The prefix “ac-” means “with.” The verse commands us to raise our awareness of God. Find a way to do this: change your schedule or your radio station; post reminders in your office or bathroom; use your electronic devices.

Wednesday, 1/8/14  Pro 3:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.  It’s your choice: live your life in a way that makes sense to you; or live your life trusting God to make it all work together for good.                        Josh 1:3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. God has already given us the victory (we’re “more than conquerors”) but we’ve got to get “boots on the ground”, or, actually take possession of the ground. Claim what is yours: happy relationships; a useful life for God; a deep relationship with Christ; a purpose for your living; being a positive influence; victory over sin.

Thursday, 1/9/14  Josh 7:10-11a And the Lord said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face? Israel hath sinned... Before wondering why God failed to honor His promises and to help you, deal with your sin.                Pro 5:1 My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding. The proud man doesn’t care about God’s wisdom. It takes a measure of humility to want wisdom and understanding.

Friday, 1/10/13  Ps 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Fear is an emotion. Analyze your fears logically: Of what are you afraid? Then, think on positive, scriptural facts and concepts.             Matt 15:1-2 Then came to Jesus the scribes and Pharisees...saying, Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? The Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus, but they came to criticize. Are you a critical person? Of course, you’d say “no”, so, if you’re so sure, ask your spouse or your kids for the ratio of compliments that you give to the number of criticisms. Criticisms penetrate deeper and are more influential, so we all ought to strive to give 4-5-10-20 times more compliments than criticisms.

Saturday, 1/11/14  Ps 27:13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. The great David would not have made it if he hadn’t governed his thinking. Again, force yourself, remind yourself to dwell on positive scriptural thoughts.                 Ps 105:4 Seek the Lord, and his strength: seek his face evermore. Whose strength are you working most on building? Your strength or God’s?  God’s proper diet (water, honey, milk, and meat) is the Word of God. His exercise includes Acts 24:16, Jer 9:24, & 1 Tim 4:7-8. His weights are the burdens of others (Gal 6:2). His cardio is a race (Heb 12:1). Get your spirit into God’s gym and break a spiritual sweat.

Thoughts from some others
Pro 5:21 For the ways of man are before the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings. Don’t think that you can get by with immorality for one second. We have an all-knowing omnipresent God who sees all, and ultimately repays.
1 Cor 10:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.  Spiritual gifts are given by God as He will and are to be used for His honor and glory. They are not for show or personal glory.
Ps 23:3a He restoreth my soul. When inner hurts and the deepest heart rending moments come our way, and they will come, there is only One Who can give true peace of mind and heart, that cannot be found anywhere eles. Give Him a chance before all others.
Exo 36:7 For the stuff they had was sufficient for all the work to make it and too much.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful if God’s people gave so much that it was too much and we had to be asked not to give for awhile? It shows what can happen if everyone has a mind and a willingness to give.
John 17:5 ...O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.  This refutes the Jehovah Witness error that Jesus is not God.
Pro 11:2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.  The arrogant and proud are unteachable.
1 Cor 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. Hurry Lord!! It can’t happen soon enough for me.
Ps 25:7b ...according to they mercy remember thou me for thy goodness sake, O Lord. We should never appeal to God for what we are, what we’ve done, etc., but because of who and what He is.
