After God Speaks

2 Peter 1:21

"For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."

The battle has always been over the Word of God. It goes back to the Garden of Eden when Satan said, "Yea, hath God said..." You can be assured that anytime God speaks Satan will always give a rebuttal. God spake to Adam and Eve and Satan responded. God spake to Balaam and Satan responded. God spake to the young prophet in 1 Kings and Satan responded. Satan always responds when God speaks because he hates God's Word.

Every generational battle will ultimately come down to the Word of God. I don't care how it is cloaked, you can always see that the battle is over the Word of God. Satan will disguise it through different mediums. Whenever you see a battle in the Christian world, you will always be able to trace its roots back to some who are trying to take away from God's Word. It is not a battle over semantics, it is a battle over God's Word. Take the camouflage off and you will always see the battle comes down to God's Word.

It is interesting in the verse above that God's says, "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." You will notice that God spake to the men of old "by the Holy Ghost." Let me assure you that the men who penned the Word of God did not write their own words and God approved them; rather, they were moved by the Holy Ghost to write what God told them to write.

What is interesting is the very next verse is 2 Peter 2:1 which says, "But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction." Notice, right after God spake the Devil had his false prophets jump in and sway the people with "damnable heresies." We must be careful about these false prophets for they will lead us into destruction. There are a couple of ways to identify these false prophets.

First, they work behind the scene "privily" to bring in their "damnable heresies." You will never see a false prophet come out and tell you where they want to take you. Instead, they are very secretive about what they believe. You will never be able to identify where they stand because they never draw their line.

Second, they will point you to them or to yourself. Notice it says, "...even denying the Lord that bought them..." False prophets will always deflect your attention away from the Word of God. They will get you to believe that you must determine for yourself what is right and wrong. This is absolutely false! God's Word is the only thing that dictates right and wrong.

Third, they appeal to your covetousness. 2 Peter 2:3 says, "And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you..." False prophets always appeal to the flesh. They want your flesh to enjoy itself. The problem with this is that God wants us to crucify the flesh.

Friend, you must be careful about the false prophets of our day. Always remember that every battle comes down to the Word of God. When people appeal to you with logic and not with the Word of God, avoid them and run away from them. Always make God's Word the authority in your life. Always be ready for Satan to speak when God speaks to you. Satan hates God's Word and will not easily let It do the work in your heart that It is supposed to do.
