God Knows Me

Jeremiah 12:3

"But thou, O LORD, knowest me: thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter."

It could be that one of the most comforting statements made in the Scriptures is that God knows me. Notice, it is a personal statement. It is a personal statement because God is a personal God. God does not have corporate relationships, but He has personal relationships. Additionally, to know that God knows us personally is very comforting. When the whole world may forget who we are, we can rest assured that God will never forget us because He knows us. Let me mention a few things the Scriptures teach concerning God knowing us.

First, God knows your heart. The verse above makes that very clear when it says, "...thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee:..." The only one Who truly knows your heart better than you is God. He knows what is in your heart. He knows the sincerity of your heart. He knows the desires of your heart. When others may judge your heart, you can be assured that God knows the purity of your heart.

Second, God knows your intentions. Psalm 44:21 says that God knows "...the secrets of the heart." In other words, God knows our intentions when we do something. Better yet, God knows any ulterior motives of our heart. This is a comforting thought because when others judged why you did something, God knows why you did it and will bless you accordingly. God knows when you intended to do something right. God knows when you were misunderstood. Though others may be offended or even judge why you do things, God knows your true intentions.

Third, God knows your direction. Job 23:10 says, "But he knoweth the way that I take:..." This is encouraging because people sometimes will judge why you do things, when you know that the reason you are doing something is to take you in a right direction. Leaders are often criticized for what they do, but what many don't understand is that the leader is concerned with the direction in which a particular action may take him. Therefore, the leader acts in a certain way to take their followers in the right direction. Christian, nobody may understand why you serve God, but He knows your direction. When family criticizes you for what you do, always understand that God knows your direction.

Fourth, Psalm 139:23 shows us that God knows your thoughts. God knows what you are thinking when others don't. He knows the thoughts that you have towards others when they don't. He knows your thoughts of righteousness when others don't. When others try to figure out what you are thinking, God knows.

Last, God knows your love. In John 21:17, God asked Peter about his love for Him. Christian, God knows that you love Him. Not only does He know that you love Him, but He also knows how much you love Him. Don't ever let the criticisms of others discourage you for God knows how much you truly love Him. When others judge your love for God, you can be comforted to know that God knows how much you love Him.

All of these things that God knows about us can be very encouraging. However, it can also be convicting to know that God knows these things. Christian, don't let others judgments and criticisms of you discourage you, for God knows you. Moreover, let God's knowledge of these things convict you to be sure to clean up any of these areas where are lacking towards Him.
