Ezekiel 26:13
"And I will cause the noise of thy songs to cease; and the sound of thy harps shall be no more heard."
Music plays an important part in everyone's life.
Music shows the direction a person is going. Music calms the heart in unsettled times. Music is an expression of what is going on in a person's life. A person should never underestimate the power of music.
There is a song that says, "I sing because I'm happy. I sing because I'm free." These words are very true. However, what happens when the music stops? In the verse above, you see that God caused "the noise of thy songs to cease." A place that used to be filled with music would now be filled with silence. What is it that caused the music to stop?
You will find that Tyrus had no more music because their walls were torn down. The outlook tower was destroyed. The people were taken captive. The walls had become rubbish. Death had visited their families. This is why the music stopped. Heartache and captivity had visited their life, and they had no reason to sing.
Has the music stopped in your life? Has sin torn down the walls of Christianity? Are you now facing the consequences of sin, and there seems to be no reason to sing? Yes, the music does stop when sin destroys lives. The music will stop when the Devil has had his way in someone's life.
However, there are some who have lost their song because of heartache. Yes, the walls of financial security have been torn down, and you see no way out of your problems. Death has visited you, and you think there is no reason to sing again. Sickness has gripped your body and torn down the walls of health. You feel like the people in Psalm 137:4 who said, "How shall we sing the LORD'S song in a strange land?"
Friend, let me encourage you that even if the walls are rubbish in your life, there is still a reason to sing. That reason is that you are saved and on your way to Heaven. Life may have taken your security away, and left nothing but chaos and loneliness, but you still have a reason to sing, and the reason is your salvation. When you read the Scriptures, you see that walls have been rebuilt that were once torn down. You can see that death is just a temporary sting for those who are saved.
Let me encourage you not to let circumstances take your song. When the music stops, it is a sign of defeat. Don't let the enemy know that they have defeated you. Moreover, if you are going through tough times, music is what will encourage your soul. If you listen to the right music, you will find it can lift your spirit out of your doldrums. I encourage you to continue singing. Don't let it be said about you that the music stopped. Let people say about you that no matter what you face, the music goes on.
