Another Spirit

Number 14:24

"But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it."

There are people in life who make a difference in their world, and one of the reasons they make a difference is because of their spirit. Their spirit is not like the average that is controlled by outside circumstances, but they have another spirit that is vibrant and inspiring to those whom they are around. You can't miss these people. When they walk in the room there is something different about them. Their spirit causes the spirit of the room to lighten up. Their spirit brightens the day of those whom they encounter. This world is in need of people with another spirit.

Cloud Christianity

Numbers 9:17

"And when the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that the children of Israel journeyed: and in the place where the cloud abode, there the children of Israel pitched their tents."

We hear much about everything being in the cloud. Technology is now storing data in the cloud. Whenever you turn your phone on and update something, it is updated on your computer through the cloud. Cloud computing is certainly the technology of the day.

Preserving the Taste

Leviticus 20:22

"Ye shall therefore keep all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: that the land, whither I bring you to dwell therein, spue you not out."

Once a summer, my family would go to the cucumber field to pick cucumbers so that my mom could make pickles for the year. Once we got home, my mother began the process of making pickles. The process of preserving those pickles was arduous, but it kept them fresh for the family throughout the year. We had to follow a recipe and process to make sure those pickles didn't spoil. We wanted the taste of those pickles to be what we originally made them to be.

Cleaning Up

Leviticus 15:31

"Thus shall ye separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness; that they die not in their uncleanness, when they defile my tabernacle that is among them."

After a long day of playing, I used to run into the house with my face and hands dirty only to hear my mother say, "Son, go get yourself cleaned up." As a young boy, I didn't think I was that dirty. I would go into the bathroom and wash what I thought was dirty, then go into the dining room to eat supper. My mother would look at me and say, "Son, I told you to clean up." She then took me back into the bathroom and grabbed the washrag and cleaned the back of my neck and behind my ears. She wanted me to be clean before I ate my supper.

Manna From Heaven

Exodus 16:33

"And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an omer full of manna therein, and lay it up before the LORD, to be kept for your generations."

After the children of Israel left Elim, they came to the wilderness of Sin. In this wilderness they had no food to eat. There were no animals to kill for food, and if there were animals, they would not be sufficient enough to feed this large congregation.

The Miracle of Coming Out

Exodus 11:1

"And the LORD said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether."

Coming out of Egypt was no coincidence, but it was the mighty hand of God that delivered Israel. For four hundred years they were in bondage, and within a few days God was able to deliver them from Egypt. When you look at this story, you can see nothing else but the mighty hand of God.

With All That He Had

Genesis 46:1

"And Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices unto the God of his father Isaac."

In the sports world, you will often hear a player say that they didn't leave anything on the field. A coach will say in the locker room before taking the field, "Be sure to give it everything you have, and don't leave anything on the field." What they mean by that statement is that they gave every ounce of energy and effort to win the game. Whether or not they win, they can look back with no regrets.

In Spite of Circumstances

Genesis 39:21

"But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison."

The first thirty years of Joseph's life were certainly unpleasant years. It didn't matter what Joseph did, he always found himself in unpleasant circumstances that were beyond his control. When he did right, it seemed as if circumstances got worse. No doubt he could have easily become discouraged with all that he faced.

Regarding the Life of Your Beast

Proverbs 12:10

"A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel."

Oftentimes as a young teenager, my father would have me help him when he worked on cars. He was a mechanic before he went into the ministry; therefore, anytime someone needed some help with their vehicle, he would use his skill to save them money. There were also times he would do side jobs so he could pay the bills.

Remember Where You Fell

Revelation 2:5

"Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent."

In the sports world, a team will often study film after a game to see what caused them to lose. One of the worst feelings to experience is the defeat after a hard fought game. I have always hated losing and the bitter taste it left in my mouth. That bitter taste caused me to analyze what caused the loss and not do it again.
