Exodus 16:33
"And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an omer full of manna therein, and lay it up before the LORD, to be kept for your generations."
After the children of Israel left Elim, they came to the wilderness of Sin. In this wilderness they had no food to eat. There were no animals to kill for food, and if there were animals, they would not be sufficient enough to feed this large congregation.
Exodus 11:1
"And the LORD said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether."
Coming out of Egypt was no coincidence, but it was the mighty hand of God that delivered Israel. For four hundred years they were in bondage, and within a few days God was able to deliver them from Egypt. When you look at this story, you can see nothing else but the mighty hand of God.
We were watching the 4-H Horse and pony show at the Lake County Fair yesterday. We really felt sorry for the young girl as this was the costume contest in which the horses are led (walked) around the arena. This horse wanted nothing to do with it and took off running.
Genesis 46:1
"And Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices unto the God of his father Isaac."
In the sports world, you will often hear a player say that they didn't leave anything on the field. A coach will say in the locker room before taking the field, "Be sure to give it everything you have, and don't leave anything on the field." What they mean by that statement is that they gave every ounce of energy and effort to win the game. Whether or not they win, they can look back with no regrets.
Went to the Lake County Fair in Crown Point yesterday. Met several people from church. Had a great time!
Genesis 39:21
"But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison."
The first thirty years of Joseph's life were certainly unpleasant years. It didn't matter what Joseph did, he always found himself in unpleasant circumstances that were beyond his control. When he did right, it seemed as if circumstances got worse. No doubt he could have easily become discouraged with all that he faced.
