Main Stream media... a good thing?

Is the Drive-By Media Good for America? (the answer: NO)

“The Mainstream and Conservative Media Are Living in Different Worlds. So Are Those Who Read Them.” — headline, The Los Angeles Times, 4/10/17

“Rush Limbaugh had a lot to do with creating those two separate worlds.” — Ted Koppel, “The Great Divide: Politics in the Age of Trump,” “cbs Sunday Morning,” 3/26/17

Dumbing down

It’s said that those who can’t do, teach. But in New York, those who can’t learn, teach. According to The New York Times, the state Board of Regents will no longer require teachers to pass the Academic Literacy Skills Test [alst] to become certified. Makes sense. Why should teachers have to be literate? After all, “the [literacy] test proved controversial because black and Hispanic candidates passed it at significantly lower rates than white candidates.” This despite a federal judge ruling in 2015 that the alst literacy test was not biased, “because it measured skills that were necessary for teaching.” Well, that’s out the window now. The Regents also want teachers who fail the test measuring practical skills like lesson planning to be certified anyway, based on “recommendations.” No wonder The New York Post sneers that the new state education motto should be: “Dumbing Down.”

Environmental wackos

Electric Shock

The sound you hear is the sobbing of duped Prius owners. According to Green Car Congress, a new study published in Atmospheric Environment — yes, you guessed it, one of my favorite journals —found that total emissions from electric vehicles equal emissions from internal combustion vehicles. For those of you in Rio Linda, that means electric cars aren’t any “cleaner” than gasoline-burners. Your Prius isn’t “saving the planet.” For once, this research team added in all the real-life pollution “costs” — they factored in the additional weight of electric vehicles, tire wear, brake wear, road wear, and road dust. Turns out, the electric cars generate more pollutants from road dust and road wear than cars that run on eeeevil gasoline, which balances out other factors. And these researchers didn’t even calculate for the source of the electricity that powers electric cars: fossil fuels. But don’t hold your breath that libs will ever ditch their Leaf or Volt. Snobbery will remain their driving force.

Bro. Al Lacey

Please pray for the Al Lacey family. Bro. Lacey went to Heaven on June 25, 2016. The funeral will be at Landmark Baptist Church in Grand Junction, CO on July 7, 2016 @ 10:00 a.m. MDT.

We plan to do a special memorial on our web page later this week.

Preposterous

The Obama Regime has a new term for criminals: “justice-involved individuals.” And in a growing number of blue cities, justice-involved individuals are given cash to not commit crimes. Because when liberals are in charge, crime literally does pay. The Washington Postreports that Democrat-run cities are eager to copy a program in Richmond, CA which gives convicted felons up to $1,000 a month not to hold up liquor stores or break into houses. (Meanwhile good kids in the same community who attend school and don’t sell drugs get squat.) Take 21-year-old Lonnie Holmes — please. He’s been arrested for numerous violent offenses, and has done prison time. Thanks to Richmond’s “grand in your hand” program, Lonnie now spends his days tooling around in his 2015 Nissan Versa smoking weed with his homies. “So far, the attention — and money — seems to be working for Holmes,” chirps The Post. Other participants have been treated to expensive trips to London and South Africa, led by ex-con “mentors” who have unsupervised free rein over the program’s budget. Paying ransom to thugs — the new cash-for-killers program. And guess what we’ll get more of? Thugs.

Great quote!

As the great economist Milton Friedman once said, “If you put the government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in five years there’d be a shortage of sand.”

Perspective

“Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag … We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language … and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.” — Theodore Roosevelt, 1919

Changing history

In 1802, Alexander Hamilton fiercely argued against “admit[ting] indiscriminately foreign emigrants of every description to the privileges of American citizens.” In fact, he slammed uncontrolled immigration as “an attempt to break down every [wall] which has been erected for the preservation of a national spirit and a national character.” An unchecked influx, he warned, is “the most powerful means of perverting and corrupting both.”

Fast forward to today, when perverting and corrupting America’s national spirit and national character is Mission One of the left.

On March 30, 2016, Jeffrey Seller, producer of the Broadway hit “Hamilton,” said this: “[The show] ‘Hamilton’ depicts the birth of our nation in a singular way. We will continue to cast the show with the same multicultural diversity that we have employed thus far.” Which explains his casting call for “non-white men and women” to play Alexander Hamilton, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Aaron Burr. Only the villain, King George II, is played by a white male actor.

The show “Hamilton” has no clue what the real Hamilton thought, taught, believed about “multicultural diversity” — or why. But the “no-white-males-need-apply” theatrical version of America’s Founding is just the latest example of the left blatantly rewriting American history. The mission: to obliterate the distinct American culture and identity.

Fascinating

Cereal Killers

This will bowl you over. According to The New York Times, sales of breakfast cereal to younger consumers have been plummeting. And you won’t believe why the hipster generation is shunning Cap’n Crunch and Tony the Tiger. In a recent survey, marketing research company Mintel found that 40 percent of millennials said “cereal was an inconvenient breakfast choice because they had to clean up after eating it.” These are the young people who can’t function without safe spaces, nap rooms, and participation trophies, so it’s no surprise they find washing a spoon and bowl an insurmountable challenge. It may also explain why millennials aren’t having kids; if you can’t clean a cereal bowl, you’re probably not going to change a diaper. What’s next, lazy millennials expecting other people to pay their way in life? Free college? Oh, wait…
