Bible Thoughts by Terry Hedderman

- Tuesday, 5/1/19  Galatians 1:23, But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed. What is your reaction when you are found to be wrong? Deny and defend our honor or turf? Only stop doing the wrong (grudgingly)? Or, own up to and work to fix the mistakes?

- Monday, 4/22/19  2 Samuel 16:11, And David said...Behold, my son...seeketh my life...let [Shimei] alone, and let him curse; for the Lord hath bidden him. David felt abandoned by God. We can never tell the depth of another’s hurt feelings. Be VERY slow to judge how deeply someone “should” be grieving or what is “normal” based on how you grieve or feel you would handle their situation.

- Tuesday, 4/16/19  1 Samuel 24:5, And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt. The heart of this Bible giant was smitten for cutting off the hem of him who was trying to kill him. Surely our criticism and slander against others is offensive to God!! Lord forgive us.

Spud dud

The chips are down in the uk, literally. According to “Recipe for Disaster” from London’s left-wing Climate Coalition, 2018’s hot and dry weather “cut more than one inch off the size of the average chip.” (For those of you in Rio Linda, fries are known as “chips” in the uk; potato chips are called “crisps.”) The report’s author, who clearly has a chip on his shoulder, warns that “British-grown potatoes, vegetables, and fruit are at risk” as “growers struggle to cope with extreme and unpredictable weather.” Because farmers have never before in history had to cope with heat or drought, apparently.

The Climate Coalition’s bargaining chip? Guilt. They want every Brit subject to chip in to chip away at global warming by cutting their carbon emissions. Otherwise, Great Britain might as well cash in their chips and admit that uk spuds are duds and their taters are tots. I say, let the chips fall where they may.

- Tuesday, 4/9/19  1 Samuel 13:14, ...the Lord hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the Lord hath commanded him to be captain... If God disqualified someone and was looking for a replacement, would He look at you or I? Are we hot after God’s heart? Do we need to “up our game”? (Ouch!)
