Attitude of Transgressors

Isaiah 59:12
“For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;”

Your attitude is a direct result of an action performed. You often know that someone is changing for good or bad because of their attitude. Your attitude dictates what is happening on the inside. This is why a preacher will often ask someone, “Is everything okay?” The reason he asks is because he sees their attitude change.

The Christian Heritage

Isaiah 54:17
“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.”

The psalmist was not exaggerating a bit when he said in Psalm 16:6, “…I have a goodly heritage.” When looking at the verse above, the Christian should realize that their heritage has nothing to do with them, but everything to do with Christ. Everything we have and everything we are is all because of Christ.

Turned Upside Down

Isaiah 24:1
“Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.”

There is coming a day when the LORD will turn the Earth upside down. The inhabitants had their opportunity to do right. They heard the prophets and preachers whom God sent their way.

What is Your Problem?

Isaiah 22:1
“The burden of the valley of vision. What aileth thee now, that thou art wholly gone up to the housetops?”

One of the first questions I ask when someone comes for help is, “What is your problem?” You will never find a solution without first discovering the problem. Symptoms and conditions can be discussed, but you will never solve your problem until you identify the source. Certainly, the symptoms can help lead you to the problem, but you have to identify your problem so that you can change what causes it.

The Team of Mercy and Judgment

Isaiah 10:4
“Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.”

Five times in the Book of Isaiah, God makes the statement, “…but his hand is stretched out still.” What a powerful statement that God would express mercy in spite of our wickedness and His judgment.

Four Steps to Honor

Proverbs 4:8
“Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.”

In the verse above, God gives a promise that the person who exalts and promotes wisdom and understanding will become a person of honor. When you think of a person with honor, you think of a person who has integrity and morals. A person with honor is a person who has lived in such a manner that people trust them and hold them in high esteem.

My Favorite Song

Song of Solomon 1:1
“The song of songs, which is Solomon’s.”

Half of the battle to having a successful marriage is fought in your head. Many marriages are destroyed because of a person’s inattention to their spouse. If you are going to make your marriage successful, you are going to have to make sure that you give time to your marriage in your head.

Correcting Properly

Job 33:1
“Wherefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words.”

Correcting a person properly will give you the best chance of gaining the respect of the person being corrected. Of course, we never know how someone will respond to correction, that is completely up to the condition of their heart, but you can do your best to be sure to correct properly so that you can continue to work together as a team for many years to come.

He Maketh My Heart Soft

Job 23:16
“For God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me:”

One of the results of having trials in life is that it softens your heart. As I look over my ministry, there have been trials that God sent my way to soften my heart. When saying that God softened my heart, it wasn't that I didn't care for people, but the compassion to help and the tears to weep with those who weep wasn't where it should be. Every trial that God sent my way had a way of softening my heart towards God and those who are hurting.

Talk is Easy

Job 16:4
“I also could speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul's stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you.”

It is so easy to talk about someone and tell others what they need to do when you have never experienced what they are enduring. This is exactly what Eliphaz and his friends did to Job. They criticized Job’s spirituality and told him what they thought he needed to do when they had no idea as to the reason for his trial.
