When the Sun Never Sets

Isaiah 60:19

"The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory."

I love the sunshine! I don't know if it is the California blood coming out of me or not, but I love being where the sun shines. I love being up early in the morning and seeing the sun rise. I love the warmth of the summer day. I love the ability to work when the sun shines. I love the sunshine!

Never a Castaway

Isaiah 46:4

"And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you."

There are two great differences between living a worldly life and living a Christian life. The world will use you until you are no longer useful and then they will cast you away. We are reminded of this in many of the people in the Scriptures. The world used Samson until they were done with him, and then they cast him away. The world used Judas Iscariot until they got out of him what they wanted, and then they cast him away. The world took from the Prodigal Son what they wanted, then when he had no more to offer they left him and he became a castaway.

Jesus, the King of Your Life

Isaiah 9:6

"Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this."

One of the prophecies that every Christian anticipates is when Jesus is set up to rule on the Earth. The verse above shows us how Jesus will govern when He rules. His government won't be filled with corruption as we see with every government in the world, rather His government will be established with judgment and justice. In other words, everything that Jesus will do will be done in truth.

Conquering Nagging Sins

2 Chronicles 26:6

"And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and brake down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines."

The Philistines were always the nagging enemy of the children of Israel. Every king of Israel had to deal with this country, and they were never truly able to destroy them. Yet, you will find that there were kings who conquered them at times, and Uzziah was one of those kings.

Home Construction

2 Chronicles 24:4

"And it came to pass after this, that Joash was minded to repair the house of the LORD."

Home construction projects are never easy and they're never cheap. Joash found that out when he was "minded to repair the house of the LORD." The first project he put his heart and energies to when he took full control of the kingdom was to repair the temple. One of the reasons this may have been his first project is because he was protected by Jehoiada  the priests when he was young, which meant he spent a lot of time in the temple. He saw the repairs first hand of what needed to be done, so he set out to make sure that the house of the LORD was properly repaired. There were several things Joash did to repair the house of the LORD that every couple must follow if they want to construct a strong home.

Destroying Your Good

2 Chronicles 18:1

"Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, and joined affinity with Ahab."

As an individual, Jehoshaphat was a good person. When God talked about the life of Jehoshaphat, he described a man who did right and tried to follow the footsteps of his father David. God revealed the heart of Jehoshaphat by saying, "And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD..." Jehoshaphat was truly a good man who tried to do right.

Surrounded with No Way Out

2 Chronicles 13:14

"And when Judah looked back, behold, the battle was before and behind: and they cried unto the LORD, and the priests sounded with the trumpets."

It would be very easy to look at the conditions of society and think that there is no way out. You can listen to the news on a daily basis and hear the continual demise of our Christian society. If you are not careful, you can almost throw your hands up in the air and think that there is no way out.

Then Shalt Thou Prosper

1 Chronicles 22:13

"Then shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the LORD charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed."

Who wouldn't want to prosper in life? When God promises to prosper us, He is saying that He will help us move forward. He is saying that He will help us succeed or increase in a certain area. There are many areas in which we can prosper. We can prosper in our marriage or home. We can prosper in our finances, ministries, employment and in any endeavor in life. Anyone who has any initiative in life will want to prosper.

Open Wide

Psalm 81:10

"I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it."

Every once in awhile when my wife is doing some baking I'll ask her what she is cooking, and she says, "It's a surprise." She will then come over to me and tell me, "Close you eyes and open wide." As I open my mouth a spoon of tasty dessert  is put into my mouth. Boy, am I glad that I opened wide.

Be Still

Psalm 46:10

"Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth."

This is a very interesting command from God during a time of war. God told Israel to "be still." In other words, God was telling Israel that they could have peace in the midst of war. He was telling them to stop squirming and trust Him. He was telling them that He would show them His power if they would be still and stop running. There were a few times when God told them to "be still."
