Bible Thoughts by Terry Hedderman

Tuesday, 5/24/16  Isa 53:11, He shall see the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied. The Father’s justice was satisfied with what Jesus did on the Cross. Are you? Are you trusting His sacrifice and that alone, or that PLUS something that you can do?                 Ps 119:33, Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end. The psalmist asked to be taught the ways of the statutes, not just the statutes, and said that doing so would help him obey. We absolutely must teach the “why’s” behind the “what’s.”

Money Mindsets

Psalm 62:10
“Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.”

Whether or not we like it, money is a part of life. You cannot pay your bills without money. You can't enjoy your time away with the family without money. Money is necessary to function in life. Your mindset concerning money will affect your Christianity.

Five Steps to Spiritual Decay

Jeremiah 7:28
“But thou shalt say unto them, This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the LORD their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.”

What a powerful statement, “truth is perished.” The word “perished”means: to wither or decay; to waste away; to come to nothing; to be rendered useless. In other words, God was saying that Israel didn't suddenly die, but they died a gradual death. Israel didn't go from being the most powerful nation in the world to a nation that perished overnight; no, it was a gradual death. For God to say that truth perished, He is saying that there was no more hope for Israel. Hope is gone when “truth is perished.”

Attitude of Transgressors

Isaiah 59:12
“For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;”

Your attitude is a direct result of an action performed. You often know that someone is changing for good or bad because of their attitude. Your attitude dictates what is happening on the inside. This is why a preacher will often ask someone, “Is everything okay?” The reason he asks is because he sees their attitude change.
