Tuesday, 10/11/16 John 3:16, For God so loved that he gave... We cannot be godly if we’re not
generous. A 10% tithe is NOT giving: it’s commanded. Giving starts after the
first 10% of our gross pay. God refers to offerings (money given to the church,
either budget or special projects) and alms (money given in secret directly to
another.)
Tuesday, 10/4/16 Men, do you get vocal in church? Ladies, do
you encourage your men in this area? Neh
8:6, And the people answered, Amen,
Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped
the Lord with their faces to the ground.
Wednesday,
9/21/16 John 15:4a, Abide in me, and I in you. Don’t forget or neglect this vital
component of daily Christian living. Figure out ways to remember the Lord
throughout the day. Talk, thank, praise, and read His word (at lunch? at break?
listen to it?)
Thursday,
9/15/16 Got character flaws? Do you
offend people at times? Sinful habits? In need of God’s mercy? Matt 6:15, But if ye forgive not men their trespasses,
neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. You’ve got to give in
order to get. Deut
30:19-20, I call heaven and earth to
record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death,
blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed shall
live: that thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his
voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length
of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sward unto thy
fathers...to give them. Notice the verbs and the order of them and the word
“that” or “[so] that.” A choice leads to love which leads to obedience which
leads to cleaving which leads to extended blessings and peace which leads to a
good life.
Tuesday, 9/6/15 Mark 15:14, Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? The unsaved, heathen, idolatrous Pilate knew Jesus had done no evil, and yet we so often charge God foolishly with mistreating us or ignoring our plights or neglecting our prayers. Shame on us, and Lord, forgive us. Rom 6:4b, ...like as Christ was raised up from the dead...even so we also should walk in newness of life. A pointed, personal question: Is your daily walk a “new walk of life” or “the old walk of death”? Maybe, honestly, you are in need of some revival. Only you can answer and only you can partake. Are you? Will you? How?
Wednesday,
8/31/16 Ps 119:71, It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy
statutes. Too often we focus and gripe about the afflictions, which
generally makes us miss the lessons, which means we’re going to get more
problems to teach us the lesson we were to learn previously.
Tuesday, 8/23/16 Ps
111:1, Praise ye the Lord. I will praise
the Lord with my whole heart, in the
assembly of the upright, and in
the congregation. Here’s an assignment: praise God publicly at
least two times this week. A
person’s thoughts are driven heavily by their feelings. Feelings are heavily
influenced by perceptions. Those whom you say you love, do they perceive it?
Or, do your actions give them a confusing message?
Tuesday, 8/16/16 John 13:10, Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needed not save to wash his feet,
but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all. Jesus referred to 2
areas/types of washing. A bath = full cleansing and corresponds to eternal
forgiveness. A footwashing = daily confession and corresponds to temporal forgiveness.
Both are “NEEDS.”
Tuesday, 8/2/16 Ps 46:7b, The
Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. The God of the
sneaky, conniving, trickster is our refuge. Are you suffering from
self-inflicted problems?
Tuesday, 7/26/16 Matt
10:27, What I tell you in darkness, that
speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the
housetops. God wants each of us to share what He tells us. Please consider
starting to send out your own daily/weekly Bible text or Facebook post. Work on
crafting a concise, poignant thought. Ask for advice, pray about it, start
writing some practice ones...but do it. Have a pen and paper handy while
reading your Bible, and make notes.
