It Wasn't So Bad After All

Hosea 2:8

"For she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal."

God used the marriage of Hosea to show the house of Israel how bad their sins were to Him. Hosea's marriage was certainly a different one in that he married a woman of the streets. Though this is not the ideal situation for any marriage, it was the situation that God commanded of Hosea so that it could be used as an illustration to those to whom he preached.

Scrambled Regs Pushed off by IRS

The Obama administration never met a rule it didn't want to postpone. But last week, the President finally delayed something we can all agree with. Leading up to the midterm elections, most people probably mistook the IRS as the Democrats' party headquarters. From stripping conservatives' tax-exempt status to disproportionately auditing tea party donors, the tax agency has been the President's political base camp.

When the Sun Never Sets

Isaiah 60:19

"The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory."

I love the sunshine! I don't know if it is the California blood coming out of me or not, but I love being where the sun shines. I love being up early in the morning and seeing the sun rise. I love the warmth of the summer day. I love the ability to work when the sun shines. I love the sunshine!

Bible Thoughts by Terry Hedderman

Sunday, 5/18/14  Exo 20:17 Thou shalt not covet. Very simply this means to be content. If you can’t have something, don’t fantasize about it. Don’t drive through neighborhoods with houses that are worth 3 or 4 times what yours is worth. Don’t look at another’s spouse. Delete the words “If only” from your vocabulary.              2 Pet 3:1-2 This second epistle...stir up your pure minds...remembrance: that ye may be mindful... God wants our minds FULL of His truths. Find a way to accomplish that: read more Bible. Remind yourself of It. Endeavor to incorporate It. Ask for advice on doing this.

Never a Castaway

Isaiah 46:4

"And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you."

There are two great differences between living a worldly life and living a Christian life. The world will use you until you are no longer useful and then they will cast you away. We are reminded of this in many of the people in the Scriptures. The world used Samson until they were done with him, and then they cast him away. The world used Judas Iscariot until they got out of him what they wanted, and then they cast him away. The world took from the Prodigal Son what they wanted, then when he had no more to offer they left him and he became a castaway.

Jesus, the King of Your Life

Isaiah 9:6

"Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this."

One of the prophecies that every Christian anticipates is when Jesus is set up to rule on the Earth. The verse above shows us how Jesus will govern when He rules. His government won't be filled with corruption as we see with every government in the world, rather His government will be established with judgment and justice. In other words, everything that Jesus will do will be done in truth.
