Important Spirits

Ecclesiastes 7:8

"Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit."

Proverbs 16:32 says, "He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city." Ruling your spirit is important to what kind of Christian you are going to be. You show me a person who has no control over their spirit, and I will show you a person who has no control over their life.

Success' Revelation

1 Kings 10:1

"And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the LORD, she came to prove him with hard questions."

Success has a funny way of ruining good people. Good people have achieved success and it changed them. I guess it should be said that success has a way of revealing the true person. When a person achieves success, it truly reveals their heart.

Who do you believe?

So, whom to believe? Obama? Gallup? News organizations? Well, in the past, Americans have relied on an authoritative source for this kind of demographic data: the U.S. Census Bureau. But there’s a wrinkle: the Census Bureau now reports to Obama. One of the first things Obama did after his Immaculation was to bring the previously “nonpartisan” Census Bureau under White House control. And in mid-April, the Census Bureau decided to overhaul its survey in its quest to document how many formerly uninsured are now insured under Obamacare. Analysts say the new questions are designed for a specific political outcome: where the Census once overstated the number of uninsured, it will now minimize them. (Merely “coincidental and unfortunate timing,” says the Regime. Uh-huh.)

This is regarding enrollment in Obamacare.  From the Limbaugh Letter.

The End of the Story

Proverbs 23:18

"For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off."

There are laws that cannot be broken no matter how hard you try to break them. For instance, what goes up must come down. Wherever there is sin there is death. One of the laws that many tend to overlook is that when there is a beginning there is always going to be an end. You may like the beginning, but you better be sure that the end is as good as the beginning.

Bible Thoughts by Terry Hedderman

Sunday, 4/27/14  Ps 5:2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray. A reminder: no where in the Bible are we allowed to pray to anyone but God. It is a slap in the face to Him, and, in fact, it’s idolatry to pray to Mary or St. Christopher or your grandmother Gertrude. See 1 Tim 2:5.          Ps 85:6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? Joy is a sign of a personal state of revival. Perhaps an indication of the degree of spiritual vitality is the degree of rejoicing in one’s life. See also Ps 5:11c.  Are you joyful??

Living on Your Own

Proverbs 4:12

"When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble."

In Proverbs 4, Solomon is preparing his son to go live on his own. He reminded his son that his father also taught him the same things. He said in verses 3-4, "For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. He taught me also..." Solomon stressed the importance of his son taking the same things his father taught him to let them guide him when he was on his own.

Something's Wrong

1 Kings 1:26

"But me, even me thy servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and thy servant Solomon, hath he not called."

When Adonijah presumptuously took the throne of Israel while David was still alive, it is astonishing to see how the people foolishly followed him. It is sad that though David was alive, Adonijah had a philosophy that his dad was too old to really lead and that he had better ideas for Israel. Beyond that fact, there were some definite symptoms that something was wrong. These symptoms should have been seen by all of Israel, but they blindly followed this foolish young man, and to the detriment of some. Let me show you the symptoms they should have seen.
