1 Samuel 3:3-4
"And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep; That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I."
Do you remember the first time the LORD spoke to your heart?
Judges 14:16
"And Samson's wife wept before him, and said, Thou dost but hate me, and lovest me not: thou hast put forth a riddle unto the children of my people, and hast not told it me. And he said unto her, Behold, I have not told it my father nor my mother, and shall I tell it thee?"
Samson's
marriage with this young lady started out wrong.
Judges 8:21
"Then Zebah and Zalmunna said, Rise thou, and fall upon us: for as the man is, so is his strength. And Gideon arose, and slew Zebah and Zalmunna, and took away the ornaments that were on their camels' necks."
During the conquer of the Midianites, Gideon captured their princes and put them in prison until he finished the battle.
Joshua 13:1
"Now Joshua was old and stricken in years; and the LORD said unto him, Thou art old and stricken in years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed."
They say that things get better with age, and most things should.

Joshua 4:4
"Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man:"
It could be that one of the reasons Joshua was the most qualified to lead Israel after Moses went to Heaven was because he didn't wait until he was in a leadership role to train others.
Deuteronomy 28:2
"And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God."
Rarely do you find a promise as open ended as the promise in the verse above.
