Sunday, 4/27/14 Ps 5:2 Hearken
unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray. A
reminder: no where in the Bible are we allowed to pray to anyone but God. It is
a slap in the face to Him, and, in fact, it’s idolatry to pray to Mary or St.
Christopher or your grandmother Gertrude. See 1 Tim 2:5. Ps 85:6 Wilt
thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? Joy is a
sign of a personal state of revival. Perhaps an indication of the degree of
spiritual vitality is the degree of rejoicing in one’s life. See also Ps
5:11c. Are you joyful??
Sunday,
4/13/14 Job 42:10 And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his
friends. Are you held captive by a problem? Perhaps this is the solution:
getting your mind off of yourself and onto others, and then earnest prayer for
the alleviation of others’ problems.
Sunday,
4/6/14 Matt 11:4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things...
Aren’t you glad the Lord doesn’t scold us for not getting it the first time, or
for not remembering something? “Go tell him again!!” How patient He is with our
humanity!!! I love you Lord.
Sunday,
3/30/14 Ps 81:10 I am the Lord thy God which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open
thy mouth wide, and I will fill it. This verse is often used as a prayer
promise, but it doesn’t say He’ll give us our requests.
Sunday,
3/23/14 Pro 20:9 Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?
That sin that you used to do? The one you got victory over years ago? Its seeds
are still in you: be on the lookout for a reappearance. In my 50’s, I’ve had to
fight against sins that I had stopped cold in my 20’s.
Sunday,
3/16/14 2 Chron 12:1 And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had
established his kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of
the Lord, and all Israel with him. Perhaps this is why so many people
struggle financially...God’s gotta keep the pressure on to keep them any kind
of close to Him.
Sunday,
3/9/14 Ps 51:2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
Do you simply wnat forgiveness for your sin, or cleansing from it? Forgiveness
is good, but it allows for continued sin: cleansed implies victory. Let’s
strive for cleansing.
Sunday,
3/2/14 Are you always right? Do you frequently get into
arguments to prove your point?
Sunday,
2/23/14 Ps 137:1 By the
rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.
No pleasure of sin is equal to the guilt and remorse afterwards.
