Defiling a Nation

Leviticus 18:24

"Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:"

When I travel, one of the things I do when I'm sitting in the airplane is to give the person next to me a tract and talk to them about the LORD. I understand that the LORD put them next to me for a purpose, so I don't want to waste God's purpose in my life.

A Change of Heart

Exodus 35:21

"And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought the LORD'S offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments."

An amazing transformation happened in the hearts of the children of Israel when they got right with God.

Pitfalls to Depravity

Exodus 32:1

"And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him."

It is confounding to see a nation that was delivered out of Egypt so quickly turning to other gods.

God's So Negative

Exodus 20:3-4

"Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:"

One of the common complaints I hear from progressive liberal Christians is that I shouldn't be so negative in my preaching.

Release Your Hostages

Genesis 40:1

"And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt."

One of the most memorable hostage stories of my lifetime was when Ayatollah Khomeini held fifty-two United States embassy staff hostage for four hundred and forty days.

Carrying on the Vision

Genesis 11:31

"And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there."

I have the privilege that many have not had in that I'm not a first generation Christian.
