Wasting God's Power

Joshua 2:10

"For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed."

The children of Israel were at the brink of the Jordan River. Forty years had passed since they were at this point, and now they were ready to go and take the Promised Land.

Big spender

Big Spender

After finishing his lunch at Applebee’s in Sumter, SC, Michael Williams tried to pay his bill with a debit card. When the card was declined, Williams reached into his wallet and pulled out cash. An ordinary gesture, except for one thing: the tender he handed over was a trillion dollar bill. According to The [Columbia, SC] State, police were called to the scene, and Mr. Williams was arrested. Talk about a double standard. In South Carolina you’re turned over to the cops as a deadbeat when you use fake trillions, but in Washington you’re greeted with “Hail to the Chief.”

Don't Avoid Mercy and Grace

Psalm 116:4-5

"Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul. Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful."

Most of the trouble in which we find ourselves is our own fault. Certainly there are times when trouble comes our way that we have done nothing to cause it, but the majority of the time our troubles are self-inflicted. When this happens we tend to avoid running to God to ask for His help. The Devil whispers in our ear that we don't deserve God's help and that we shouldn't bother Him with something that we caused. Though the Devil may be right in that we don't deserve God's help, that still shouldn't keep us from going to God to ask Him for help.

It's Time to Move On

Deuteronomy 1:6

"The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:"

Horeb is a two-mile long mountain range that had significant impact upon the children of Israel. In this mountain range is Mount Sinai, the mount where Moses received the ten commandments. This is the mountain range where the rock of Horeb was, the rock from which the water came out. As you can see, Horeb had a significant spiritual impact on God's people.

Bible Thoughts by Terry Hedderman

Sunday, 4/6/14  Matt 11:4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things... Aren’t you glad the Lord doesn’t scold us for not getting it the first time, or for not remembering something? “Go tell him again!!” How patient He is with our humanity!!! I love you Lord.
