The sound you hear is the political class quaking with fear and fury. We’ve been told that “the third rail of politics” for elected officials is anything to do with Social Security reform — touch it, and you die, supposedly. The truth is, the real third rail of modern American politics is any attempt to stop illegal immigration. The establishment — of both parties — has no interest in that. Zip, zero, nada.
