Left goes...

The Left Goes Totalitarian

“He is a clown in blackface sitting on the Supreme Court … This man does not belong on the Supreme Court. He is an embarrassment. He is a disgrace to America.” — George Takei, livid at Justice Clarence Thomas for his dissent on gay marriage ruling, quoted at NewsBusters, 7/1/15

Bible Thoughts by Terry Hedderman

Sunday, 7/26/15  Luke 8:1, ...shewing the glad tidings of the the kingdom of God... Bible Christianity is a happy religion. If your religion doesn’t make you happy, if you don’t enjoy it, I mean like a close football game or a party with friends, then you might ought to get out of it, (or get into it wholly) and try something that’s real.          Matt 3:17, And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. There is in the heart of every person, even the Son of God, the desire to hear approval from leadership. Leaders: give it. Followers, practice now for later and compliment freely every chance you get. If you’ll think, then you’ll thank.

Words of a Hurting Man

Job 16:5
“But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage your grief.”

Part of Job’s hardship was hoping that someone would understand what he was going through. He certainly had no clue as to what was going on and why, and those who came to “comfort” him certainly didn’t either. What he did say during his time of grief says a lot about what those who are hurting would like to be said to them.

Sunday, 7/19/15  Why read the Bible?  7) For strength and encouragement to our souls.  2 Chron 15:8, And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage...  Isa 40:31, But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength...             Luke 5:1, And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret. Of course Jesus has an attractiveness that no human can match, but the same Word of God will be preached this morning and tonight within driving distance of you. Will you “press” to hear it, or is the TV more pressing?

Unnecessary Yokes

Acts 15:10
“Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?”

In the Christian life there are three yokes from which to choose. You have a yoke of iron which is a result of sin. Sin may seem enjoyable for a season, but what you don't notice when you choose sin is the yoke of iron that comes with it. God shows the result of choosing the yoke of iron when He says in Deuteronomy 28:48, “Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.” This yoke of iron is an unnecessary yoke that you don't have to carry if you will live for the LORD.

Sunday, 7/12/15  I know of no place where God specifically tells us to read our Bibles; but we’re commanded to search the scriptures, to study to shew [ourselves] approved, to meditate on the Bible day and night, to not let the Bible depart out of [our] mouths...all of which involved reading it. Over the next few days, I will give several benefits of attentively reading the Bible.             CAUTION!!! “Room to grow notification!!”  1 Sam 26:17, And Saul knew David’s voice, and said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And David said, It is my voice, my lord, O king. Can you speak and act as respectfully to or about those who are trying to hurt you as David did?? (Or the better question may be, 'Will you speak thusly?')
