Joshua 24:15

if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye
will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the
other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye
dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
The best family is the family that serves the LORD together. The
strongest family is the family the serves the LORD. The closest family
is the family that serves the LORD. The common denominator for an
enjoyable and close family life is making the LORD the centerpiece of
all that you do.

Colossians 3:13

You will sometimes hear people say, “Life would be good if it were
not for people.” This may be true, but the problem is that interacting
with people is part of our daily routine. These people make up all types
of personalities and lifestyles, and some of those personalities and
lifestyles will seem to clash with yours. If you are going to enjoy
life, then you are going to have to learn to get along with others who
don't do things like you, or with others with whom it is hard to get
along.

There have been many influences in my life who have helped me to
grow into the Christian that I presently am. There was not just one
person who influenced me, but everyone from outside preachers to my Sunday
school teachers have had some influence on my life. Without each
influence, I would not be the preacher, Christian, husband, father or
friend that I am.

The food police have set their sights on Burger King. Under pressure from the aggressive left-wing advocacy group Center for Science in the Public Interest [cspi], the chain has stopped marketing soft drinks with its kids’ meals. According to USA Today, the move was “in response to growing demands by consumers and activists.” Make that “activists pretending to be consumers.” cspi’s director, Margo Wootan, said the change “will help children eat better now, as soda is the leading source of calories in children’s diets.” Let’s see: BK has been pressured to replace Coke (106 calories) with apple juice (120 calories) or low-fat chocolate milk (160 calories). But logic doesn’t matter to cspi. They’re leftists, so their agenda is to ensure that nowhere in America can you “have it your way.”

Joshua 4:24

LORD, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the LORD your God for ever.”
Israel did not understand the impact that crossing over the Jordan
River would have on their lives and their future. The Jordan River was
that border that completely divided them from Egypt. When they crossed
over this river, they were saying that they would no longer go back to
Egypt. In essence they were saying that they were choosing to live God’s
lifestyle and live in His will for the rest of their lives. That
decision not only had an impact on them, but it also had an impact on
those around them and on future generations.
Sunday, 6/7/15 Ps 112:1 Praise
ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly
in his commandments. Idea: write prayer reminders in your Bible. Next to
this verse, maybe write, “Help me to love Your word more!” If you avoid doing
things that are “beneath your dignity,” then you’re not very much like God. Ps 113:6, Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in
the earth! Regular, scheduled humbling should be a part of your day or
week. How? Thinking, confessing of sins, physically putting you face on the
floor or ground, or fasting are some ways.

Several years ago, my
aunt, Bessie Parr, was dying of cancer. During those final hours, my
uncle was by the side of her bed and family members were in the room to
be with her. She was a dear lady who had greatly influenced my life and
the life of many others. With our hearts heavy, someone came into the
room and said that our pastor was coming to visit. I happened to step
out of the room when I saw Bro. Jack Hyles, our pastor, walking down the
hallway with his wife to come and comfort the family. I remember the
embrace he gave, and how his presence alone was a comfort to the whole
family.
