God, the Reactor

Zechariah 1:3
“Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the LORD of hosts.”

God is a very reasonable and fair God. When He created us, He created us with a free choice to be able to do what we want to do. God could have chosen to create us with no ability to choose and only with the ability to act upon His command, but He loved us too much to do that. No other part of God’s creation was created with reasoning and the ability to choose.

How Long Do I Need to Wait?

Habakkuk 1:2
“O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save!”

One of the most discouraging things that many Christians face is not getting answers to prayers. The Devil loves to use the time when we perceive that God is not answering our prayers to defeat our spiritual confidence and he even attempts to get us to stop praying. He knows that if we stop praying, he can win some battles.

The Greatest Deceiver

Obadiah 1:3
“The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?”

Edom had exalted herself as a nation that could not be destroyed. She thought that her location in the rocky, mountainous region would keep anyone from being able to destroy her. Yet, it was not the location that destroyed her, it was the pride in her heart that destroyed her. God said, “The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee…” Her pride led her to believe that she was too big to be destroyed.

At the Core of Joint Success

Amos 3:3
“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?”

The verse above, though only comprised of a few words, carries a powerful principle as to how two forces can succeed. God reminded Israel how together they were able to leave Egypt, survive the wilderness and conquer the land of Canaan. The way they did it was they walked together in agreement. Yet, because Israel no longer was in agreement with God, He was no longer able to work with them to see mighty works performed. It was the power of their agreement that allowed the mighty works to be done.

Bible Thoughts by Terry Hedderman

Monday, 1/25/16  1 Sam 28:2, And David said to [the Philistine king], Surely thou shalt know what thy servant can do. And Achish said to David, Therefore will I make thee keeper of mine head for ever. Not every promotion or good opportunity is a good idea or God’s will.                   1 Sam 26:9, And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the Lord’s anointed, and be guiltless? David could’ve hurt King Saul who was trying to hurt him, but chose faith. God has chosen your leadership (boss, teacher, pastor, politicians, etc.) Don’t rebel against them, or fight them, even in your heart.

Perpetuating the Harvest

Joel 1:11
“Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished.”

The harvest is important to the future of a plant. Imagine if all apple trees never produced one more apple. If that happened, apples would be extinct within a few years. The harvest is important to the perpetuating of the apple tree.

Bully for You

More proof of the left’s religious agenda to bully non-believers. According to The Washington Free Beacon, the National Institutes of Health [nih] is spending $107,379 studying “disgust,” trying to make the case that this human emotion must be regulated. I kid you not. Their thesis is that disgust that’s “morality based” must be stamped out, because it somehow leads to the bullying of gays and others. According to an nih studywith the creepy title, “The Development and Regulation of Moral Emotions,” Columbia University researchers surmise that “during development, individuals begin to consider actions and behaviors … to be morally wrong (e.g., homosexuality). In adults, this type of … moral condemnation is often under[pinned] by disgust, an emotion that has been linked to increased homophobic, sexist, and racist attitudes.” Calling “disgust, moral condemnation, and social rejection” a learned response, the nih wants to discover “when disgust begins to enter the moral toolbox.” For what purpose? To find out “if the emotions … can be successfully regulated.” And if tinkering with a person’s “moral toolbox” doesn’t work, what then? The left will no doubt respond with disgust, moral condemnation, and social rejection. See how this works?

Confusing Your Surroundings

Daniel 9:8
“O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.”

The Devil is a master at creating confusion. He knows that “whatsoever is not of faith is sin.” (Romans 14:23) One of his major goals is to get God’s people to act in such a manner that creates confusion because when there is confusion there is uncertainty.
